Your comments would have had a lot more pizazz had you laden them with DHTML that popped up little sidebars that explained any jokes or plot developments that the reader might have missed. Also, if you could arbitrarily change the frame rate on my monitor, that would be good.

True, but then I would have been forced to shoot myself.

The She Spies girl swallowed a bomb! You got to be willing to take the hit for the team.

    okay, couple of comments…

one, She Spies is a silly show. it knows it’s a silly show. it doesn’t try not to be silly. it doesn’t aspire to high art. one cannot say the same for Birds of Prey. the only thing i like better about Birds of Prey (ok, besides Dina Meyer, the poor good actress stuck in a bunch of sch****) is the yummy apparel Huntress gets to wear. [i know apparel sounds weird, but it’s the only thing that allowed proper noun/verb agreement.] at least when She Spies does stupid stuff (about once every other minute or so), i’m pretty sure it’s intentional.

two, the ep that was on this past weekend was the second episode. i thought later eps were better done, but then i enjoy silly tongue-so-far-in-cheek-it-might-be-outside-the-mouth humor.

I think we got that it was a silly, intentionally silly, silly to the point of badness show. I love stuff like that. Keep in mind, Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death was one of my favorite movies. But I think the problem that Mike and I had was that it didn’t seem all that funny in its sillyness.

I’ll grant you that we’re judging on a single episode, unlike the several that you and max have seem, but we both commented about half way through the show that there basically seemed to only really be one joke that they kept rehashing over and over again, and we just got tired of it.

Sure, I could see how it could be better if it were better produced (which it may be later), but you can say that about anything.

All in all, I’d rather be watching Cop Rock!

Silly and tongue-in-cheek is good. Boring and obvious is bad. Charlie’s Angels did a fine job doing this: it’s incredibly over-the-top and full of itself, but it works and it’s amusing and entertaining. I almost fell asleep during She Spies because all the gags were telegraphed so obviously.

Naturally, insert standard disclaimers about having only seen one episode, the vagaries of my mood and/or the phase of the moon, etc.

And I would never defend Birds of Prey 😉 Mav is just tweaking y’all.

Ok, sure, you wouldn’t defend Birds of Prey, but what about <ECHO>”The Man With The Power!!!!”</ECHO>. OOh! or Poochinsky… I bet you would have loved Poochinsky.

          You damn right.

actually, i don’t know if the production improves any in the later episodes, but the writing does. In all seriousness, the first episode I saw was funnier and more watchable than Charlie’s Angels (the movie). Maybe I just lucked into seeing the best episode first…
