It continues to be cold as Nifleheim in my office. The airconditioning continues to blow, and our interim solution of sealing the airconditioning vent shut with bubblewrap and duct tape (also good for protecting me against terrorism) is beginning to disintegrate. Yesterday afternoon a very official looking facillities kind of guy cam and stared at the thermostat then he pulled out a cell phone and called somebody. “Yes, it is very cold. Yes, it says its about 60. Well its turned up to 85. OK.” Then he hung up and left. So basically, I am to assume that building management has verified that the problem exists. Good job guys.
*Sigh*
Oh, how I yearn for the intelligence and work ethic of CMU Facillities Mgmt.
Hmm. When we call about the temperature, the building engineers come and fix it and then the next day it’s exactly the same as the day before.
And really, it’s more annoying that it’s freezing in here when it’s hot out, when you’re wearing less clothing, and really hot in here if it’s cold out and you’re wearing warm clothing.
yeah, CMU Facilities Mgmt, who ignored weeks of calls about the ceiling dripping on my head (and eventually leaving a puddle on my monitor) and finally fixed it with a bucket in the ceiling with a hose leading to a bucket on the floor. which by the way, did not sufficiently quell the drip; i had to add an upside down umbrella as a funnel for the ceiling bucket.
{shivers} i can still feel little flakes of sodden ceiling tile falling on me. and i’m four blocks away now.
yeah, that kind of intelligence and work ethic. I miss that.
