Ok, really we want to have a party

Warning: As I type this, I am a little drunk… I had some vodka, you see

Ok, so we’ve talked about this before, and we’re talking about it again. sui66iy and I really want to have a party. We were thinking to hell with themes. How about we just get a whole bunch of alcohol and some music and invite a couple hundred of our closest friends. Old school style. 707 revisited! So we’re thinking we might do something of that nature sometime in the next month or two.

So the questions are: 1) If we were to have a party, would you come. 2) when should we have said party? (Mike has vetoed next weekend, but anytime after that is fair game)

Yes, and the weekend of May 9th would be super cool because all my exams will be over. The weekend of May 23rd would also good. 😀 By the way… *waves* Hi! I’m Laura!

Hi, I’m Mav… which icon are you obsessed with with?

I see I’m going to have to grab Laura and physically deposit her in front of you, Mav. Seems to be working so far….

physically lifting and moving a woman to enforce a meeting… I have taught you well, young one…

        I like this icon: http://userpic.livejournal.com/3381167/598744

My first computer was named Gudrun, but it wasn’t an iBook. My first iBook was named Hansabel, and my new one is named Melete.

I think the party theme should be “Party.” Everyone can dress as if they were going to a party, and there could be drinks (maybe alcoholic party drinks) and some light party food and loud festive music. Dressing in costume should be enforced.

Ah, that’s Brunnhilde. Computers (or computer-like devices) I have owned that have had names, off the top of my head, have been: Lorelei, Edda, Yggdrasil, Jormungandr, Nidhogg, Ginnungagap, Goldenapple, Mistletoe, Raven, Verdandi, Bifrost, iDun, Tunngrisnr, Tunngnostr, Sleipnir, Brunnhilde.

As for the party. Yeah, “party” might just be the theme. But I am also thinking of pushing for Disco!

My computers have been Gudrun, Sigurd, Hansabel, and Melete (who is joined on the network at home by Aoede and Mneme). I like your Norse theme.

Goldenapple (a deviation from the theme?) like this: http://www.manicapathy.org/ihave/friends/me/Laura-Eris.jpg ?

I’ll take any excuse to costume, and I’ve always liked Myths and Legends as a theme, though Disco might be more stylish.

Goldenapple and Mistletoe are what I named the CS.CMU.EDU newsservers when I was in charge of such things ‘lo so many years ago. And no, they aren’t deviations from the theme. They are just very subtle. CS required me to name any servers with their naming scheme of “kinds of fruits or berries” but I wanted to stay inside of my Nordic theme, so I chose a fruit, Golden Apple, and a berry, Mistletoe, that fit the theme if you knew enough about Norse mythology to know their significance.

            ooh… toga pictures!

If you want excuses to dress up, then you’ll love, my parties.

            What was the RT named?

I don’t remember whether your RT or poptart is currently in my dining room.

squishysoft belonged sort of jointly to me and . Then there were Ragnarok and Valkyror which were just mine. I don’t remember which one(s) you took. I thinking Dan took squishysoft with him, so it was one of the other two.

I remember now. It was ragnarok. And I think it’s poptart which is in my dining room, which means ragnarok was the one in my office that I gave away.

Some student, it was around 2000, because I retired it as a fileserver before y2k. I still have the disk I had in it, with the OS installed.

Now yer talkin’. Drinking and irresponsible behavior–what other themes do you need? I’ve been traveling too much lately, so give it a month or so.

jammies… I need jammies… ah hell… I guess I don’t NEED them, but they are just so fun. Anyway, I suppose simple “liver stress testing” is a fine way to spend a saturday night, and its frankly been too long since I’ve done that. Clearly I need to guage just where my liver stands. How much abuse can it take?

    After May 20

That when The Site hits beta. I’ll quite possibly be working weekends around then, but screw them if they think I’m doing it after. Jess has some bar exam review stuff starting the 23rd, but weekends are cool.

ummm… but the 23rd is the weekend of the 20th. I don’t get it.

Not the next two weekends…after that and there’s a good chance that I’ll come.
