spending way too much money for an unemployed bum. Will have to get job to maintain my lifestyle. Screw job… I need a wealthy bored socialite trophy wife to have an affiar with. Someone who’s only looking for a young stud to screw on Thursday evenings and in exchange is willing to keep me in the lifestyle to which I am accustomed.
What I bought today:
- Comics – a big week… btw, anisodragnfly, two of them were Gloomcookies for you
- Three lottery tickets – did not win Powerball, definitely need to find “sugarmommy” as the lottery is a gip… Sigh
- Ram for my iBook – I had really been needing this for a while, and finally remembered to order a chip today
- A nice but cheap tripod for my camera – Hopefully this will inspire me to take more pictures, including photosketches and therefore help cure my waning creativity.
- 8 Mile, on DVD – been wanting to see this for a while, actually… and mmmm… Taryn Manning… yum…
- a massage mat back massager – ok, this was a total splurge, but hey it was on sale… and it feels oh so nice.
hee hee
420ex. 420ex.
i’ll be the little canon devil on your shoulder since i’ve spend more on g3 accessories than on the g3 itself. let me know when you think you can handle my spiel on how great this flash is.
Re: hee hee
Hmmm… it’s $210, which I don’t have… so go for it tell me now… I’d probably end up buying alternate lenses first anyway.
unless you’re gonna be taking macro shots you don’t really need alternate lenses too much. though the wide angle is pretty sweet for taking groups shots without having to step back from the group at all. i haven’t found consistent application for the telephoto.
basically, if you take flash shots at all the 420ex will be about a thousand percent improvement. it lets you point the flash at any angle. pointing it straight up is called bounce and effectively relocates your flash from the tiny rectangle on the front of the camera to the entire ceiling. pointing a flash straight foward washes out the subject, so bouncing off something, anything is much much better. also, the g3 flash is located too close to the lens, so you tend to get a lot of red eye, even with the redeye reduction. i never use the internal flash.
if you want i can talk next about how awesomely heavy the camera gets with the 420ex and the wide angle lens. hee hee.
yeah, I definitely want it… I just don’t have any cash for that kind of thing right now… hmmm… maybe after my next unemployment check… sigh.. must get a job…
actually I find myself frequently wanting better zoom, like at sporting events and stuff like that, so the telephoto would be nice. And yeah, the wideangle sounds cool.
mmm. so that’s where tele is useful. the canon lens is only 1.75x though.
when you do go the lens route, be sure to get the good 58mm adapter at http://www.lensmateonline.com/g3.html . the canon adapter is plastic.
oh, and get a job!
yeah… i actually have the plastic adapter already… it came with the deal that I got the camera and camera bag with.
yeah… looking for a job… sigh… I still think the sugarmommy is better…
thanks, i’ll try to find you soon so you’re not out the ~$6.50 i owe you for too long. also, i only need one copy from now on, plus i no longer need Courtney Crumrin #3 (if they’re even still looking for it).
