    Actually, there’s apparently a bug that causes it to set the balance like that all by itself sometimes. Of course, it’s never happened to me; it’s entirely possible it is actually something people are doing without knowing it. maybe there are undocumented function keys to set balance or something.

      well… I tried all the function keys, alone and with combinations of modifier keys, and nothing seems to make it happen, so it must just occur randomly. And maybe it just doesn’t happen on tibooks, since the other people who mentioned it are ibook owners…

    Both laura and I have encountered this bug. She actually ended up destroying a pair of headphones trying to fix the problem before she checked her balance settings.

      you know, now that I think about it, I think I remember her mentioning it… Is it always to the left?

    Yeah, the balance control on my iBook has mysteriously ended up leaning left on many occasions.

    It doesn’t have a solution yet, but it seems to be a Jaguar bug, not specific to the iBook.

      ok, so its load based, which might explain why ibook users have the problem occur more often than tibook users. It’s easier to overload the processor.
