so, my aluminum Powerbook arrived today. Didn’t mention it earlier, because I didn’t want beststephi to know that I had ordered it and was giving her the iBook. Pretty happy with it so far. Things of note:

  • slightly smaller than the iBook. Didn’t realize that, welcome surprise
  • very much faster
  • thus far have not experienced the “so hot you’ll burn your dick off” phenomenon that xthlc and other reported. Perhaps they addressed that for the current revision.
  • soooo shiny…. sooooo purty….

many apps to install… Also need to get a digital camcorder so I can make wrestling DVDs. Hey wooble, do you still have the raw footage from when I borrowed your camera?

Umm, it’s possible (but unlikely) Tracey didn’t use the tape your footage was on to videotape her pre-school class. I definitely deleted the raw footage from my computer a couple of weeks ago, when I realized that I had about 15 GB less free disk space than I should.

It really shouldn’t be all that difficult to just grab the footage back off your DVD, though; it’s not like it’s copy-protected or anything, which would, uh, almost make it more difficult to import.

Oh, and you should apparently also watch out for the “strong as steel and light as aluminum wasn’t good enough for use, so we’ll use a metal that’s as light as aluminum and bends just like aluminum” phenomenon as well.

I just got the Canon ZR70MC and haven’t played much with it yet. It was $407 from buydig.com.

If you want to play with it, that can probably be arranged. I figure I should shoot some stuff this weekend and pull into Final Cut to play with a bit.
