So I lost my car stereo face plate last week and I just today got around to calling to see how much it would cost to get a replacement one. Well, my stereo is 5 years old, and they no longer make it, so they’d have to special order the faceplate (I wonder if that’s code for find the retired guy to have him make one by hand) and it would end up costing me about $84, and would take 4-6 weeks to be delivered. This seems ridiculous, so I guess I am in the market for a new car stereo. My needs are relatively simple. I want a CD, a clock, and the ability to hook up my iPod. I guess MP3 cd playing is nice, but I don’t really care. Any suggestions? Anything else that I should be aware of? Keep in mind, I am still unemployed.
om
blaupunkt!
I don’t know how they get along with unemployed bums though.
actually, that’s what my old one is…
Oh, did you not like it then? Or are you just annoyed with them for the inconvenience factor of discontinuing your product?
I like their stuff – if I had a car I’d get a blaupunkt system for it.. but one that they make now =)
i like them fine… they’re just expensive… if I can’t find something good, for a reasonable price, I might still settle for just getting a replacement faceplate for the one I have… i just don’t feel like waiting for 6 weeks.
And I meant I don’t know how expensive they are, relative to other possibilities, for the unemployed part.
I have a Jensen MP3510 and it’s pretty decent. Plays mp3 CDs and regular CDs. Can be had a lot cheaper than some of the other decks around nowadays. It has a headphone jack for auxilliary input (so you can use your ipod).

this is probably not gonna help, but last week there were really cheap car stereos at CCity
Do you get paid by commission?
no, I wish, I would be so totally blingin’
