I suppose if you are trying to get pregnant, then you’d want to know that early…

Sure. I frequently want to know a day or two after I should’ve ovulated (ie, 2 weeks before the “missed” period). But since I can’t, I’ve sort of gotten over it and no longer worry about it unless and until I’m late.

well, you’d still have to wait a week… you just wouldn’t have to wait 2…

Some people are paranoid, or have a lot riding on the results. Say you’re an 18 yr old college kid having unprotected sex and you have Catholic parents. You’ll spend the whole month flipping out until you know one way or the other. It can be exhausting, so while five days may not seem like that long, it can feel like a lifetime if you think you’ve accidentally gotten yourself pregnant. And the five days of not worrying would likely be worth the money…

Also, stress can cause your period to be late, causing more stress…

indeed. downward spiral kind of effect. Best to stop it before it has to start.

Yup, that was pretty much what I was going to say, but you worded it waaaay better 😛

wow…that’s way too much worrying for me. It wouldn’t have even occured to me to worry BEFORE I missed. hmmmm, maybe that’s why I had 3 kids. So I could have worried myself into depression or gone on about my merry way until I really had something to worry about. I’d opt for the latter.

Don’t forget the geeky guy factor! Everyone knows men see those ads too. If I had to send my man to the store to buy a pregnancy test I know damn well he’d pay a premium for the one that would work 5 days before I was late. 🙂

He’d probably pay $200 if it had upgradable firmware.

Or if the condom breaks. That could be a long 2 weeks before you could find out.

    Just my own .02.
