what should I rant about?

hmmm… haven’t posted much in the last month or so. Haven’t really had much to say. Such is the life of a bum. Anyway, I was thinking that I might write a 1KWFFH rant about some topic but can’t think of what I want to tackle next. So I am taking suggestions. What should I write 1000 words of free flowing hostility on? Give me suggestions. I’m not saying I will or won’t do any of them, but I want to know what people are thinking.

One of the even newer, even more disgusting reality show premises coming out for next year’s season? That stuff makes my stomach turn. Especially the one where the two straight guys have to convince their families they’re gay to compete for money. UGH.

I’ve been mulling over the concept of reality TV and how to compose a rant about it for a while now… Its coming sooner or later…

My favorite right now, is Superstar USA, which is exactly like American Idol, except secretly they’re trying to find people who really really suck at singing…

I admit I’ve been suckered into a few since Survivor 1, but the newer network shows seem to be getting much more focused on humiliation and outrageousness, and I’m not into that. I’m pretty much expecting to see ones like Gladiator soon, where it’s fight tigers to the death and stuff like that.

woah! I’d be so into that… I mean, not for just like the heck of it or anything, but if they had like a twenty dollar prize or something, I’d be all over it. 🙂

The other one I think of is, well, I think there was a movie about it, but I read a short story in middle school called The Most Dangerous Game about hunting men for sport. That’s the one I think they’re moving towards.

yeah, there are a few movies of that concept… The Running Man is one of them…

If you’ve never seen it most defintely check out Series 7: The Contenders

It’s about the logical violent culmination of reality shows… 5 random people chosen by SSN lottery are each given guns and told to kill the other contestants, last one alive wins. The only way out is by being dead or by winning 5 consecutive seasons.

That’s a show I could watch. I haven’t really watched much reality TV mostly because it started with a show called “survivor” but nobody had to die.

That sounds almost just like one of the fake ads in Grant Theft Auto 3, hmm…

I don’t know, doesn’t it kind of take the charm out of it if you take requests? I mean, the whole point is that it’s *your* (really rather random) hostility.

what he said. this seems to take the spontaneity out of the endeavor, leaving it more blustery than ranty.

yeah… I guess that’s a danger… I’m hoping to avoid that. But like I was telling Mike, I wouldn’t bother to rant unless it was something I had an honest opinion on. Just looking for a catalyst here, or something I guess.

I dunno… maybe… but I wasn’t so much saying I’d rant on anything anyone said, I’m more figuring that maybe if people tell me things that irk them it will inspire me. That’s basically where all the rest of them come from anyway… just not with so much intent, I guess.

ya know… that may be one of the few topics on earth that even longwinded me can’t come up with 1000 words on….

how about the futility of trying to prepare for a disaster?

this whole 9/11 panel thing is inane. the whole point about unexcepcted disasters is that you can’t prepare for them or prevent them.

interesting… definitely something for me to think about, as its not the “obvious” thing to rant about with the 9/11 panel…

You should definately rant about domestic abuse, and the bad rap its been getting recently. Because seriously, what better way is there to show you care than with right hook?
