on going to the movies…

Sin City So I probably should have posted before, but I was of course upset about my laptop dying (ok, wooble, I really think I am done with that now). Sin City is coming out on Friday, and I want to go see it, as I have given in to the hype and I am…

on stupid laptop tricks…

My laptop at work with transparent screen Originally uploaded by chrismaverick. so since I lost my background image when my laptop hard drive died (there you go, wooble), I decided I needed a new one. At least temporarilly. I had recently been impressed with the new craze in “transparent” desktop images, so I decided to…

My laptop at work with transparent screen

My laptop at work with transparent screen

I’ve been intrigued with people’s recent transparent screen hacks, so I decided to take a moment at work to do one of my own. Here is my laptop. Unfotunately, the only camera I had to use just now to do all this with was my camera phone, so the quality of both the desktop image and the final shot is kinda lame, but hey. Not bad for 2 minutes worth of work and inferior technology. Used in LJ entry: chrismaverick.livejournal.com/209472.html

on taking photos…

Torso and Steel Originally uploaded by chrismaverick. So among other problems implicit with losing my hard drive, I also lost a lot of photos that I’d taken and hadn’t bothered to back up to either my server or flickr. on Easter Eve…

Got a lot done today. Went out to Cranberry to visit a lighting store to try and pick lighting fixtures for the new house. beststephi was generally unimpressed with any of the options for ceiling fans and track lighting at the lighting specialty store and much more excited about more generic models at Home Depot.…

on the roulette wheel of justice…

So in all the hoopla today about Scott Peterson being sentenced to death this afternoon, it appears that a lot of people might have missed the fact Robert Blake was also acquitted today of the charges of murdering his wife. Good for you Baretta. But now, on behalf of all black people in the United…

on musical obscurity…

so the other day, I found a website that catalogs one hit wonders throu the last 50 years or so. Its pretty cool. I spetn some time perusing it, by decade. For obvious reasons, starting with the 80s I recognize more bands than in prior decades. So I was paging through and going down memory…

on moving…

It’s only 11:30 on a Saturday night, and I am exhausted. Got up early and drove to Cleveland to pick up my bar and some other furniture that my grandmother left behind when she moved to Mississippi. Then I went to Dormont to get my hottub. I was of course overly optimistic and was hoping…
