on Easter Eve…

Got a lot done today. Went out to Cranberry to visit a lighting store to try and pick lighting fixtures for the new house. beststephi was generally unimpressed with any of the options for ceiling fans and track lighting at the lighting specialty store and much more excited about more generic models at Home Depot. I’m slightly inclined to agree. Does anyone know anything about ceiling fans or track lighting and quality thereof?

Easter Baskets

When we got home, we (as well as sundaygray and sui66iy) dyed easter eggs. sundaygray was also nice enough to provide us each with tiny little easter baskets (more metal buckets, they’re really nice) and candy and grass to mix in with the easter eggs. They’re all very nice. Especially mine. Marvel at exquisite mastery and design of my multi color dye jobs. I rule!

Then a couple hours ago, CompUSA called me and let me know that they had finished installing a new hard drive in my laptop and I could come and pick it up. They couldn’t get the 80GB to boot, but they gave it back to me, so if I can ever get it up, I can have my data. On a good note, the new drive is 100GB and 80 was feeling tight before, so at least I got an upgrade of sorts. I’ll be spending the rest of the night reinstalling stuff. Hey, Friday it went in the shop and if I can have it risen again by tomorrow, that might be… uh… well meaningful in some sort of sacrilegious kinda way.

I did research on ceiling fans a few years ago. I think my conclusion was that good ceiling fans are way too expensive. Moderately priced fans are ok, though they tend to wobble and squeak after a while. Cheap ceiling fans are noisy. None of the moderately priced brands are really better than the others, so your best bet is to just go with what looks best in your house.

Thanx for the tips. Honestly, the house has central air. I’m not sure we’ll ever need ceiling fans (we already have them in the living room and dining room, these are just the bedrooms), but I sort of feel like, if we’re going to have to put new lights in anyway (which we are), might as well make them fans just in case.

I’m so jealous… it’s 1:00 am and I haven’t dyed eggs… I think it’s the first time in 30 years 🙁 But you’ve inspired me; I shall arise tomorrow morning and commence the boiling and the coloring!

Oh, IKEA has lighting too. In the basement area… I don’t think they have ceiling fans, but they have track lighting and I believe some other ceiling mount options. It’s got that whole Scandinavian design thing going for it, and isn’t very expensive.

Thanx, may check that out. I need barstools too. Hey, do the Scandanavians celebrate Easter? I’m half tempted to go right now.

I really like the tri-color egg, Mav, that’s beautiful. ‘s mom made us dye eggs yesterday, but with limited equipment, the results were below my usual standard. I think we may have eaten them all for breakfast this morning, but if not, maybe I can post a pic.

Thanx… I was pretty proud of that one. We actually didn’t have any real cool equipment either. I just held it very still partially dipped in the water for a long time. I was really happy how it turned out, though.
