(stolen from jameel):
1. Post a list of ten TV shows or fandoms you follow (current or cancelled).
2. Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show.
3. When guessed, bold the line and write a sentence about why you like the character.
4. Post in your own LiveJournal.
Some of these may have multiple answers:
- Twin Peaks
- Audrey Horne-Two reasons. First, at the time I had a massively huge crush on Sherilyn Fenn. Second there was just something about the character and the mixture of both good girl and bad girl that was appealing.
- There are two others, as yet unguessed.
- Battlestar Galactica (both versions)
- Original Series: Dirk Benedict just has an innate coolness that transfers through to both Starbuck and Face.
- New Series: Not yet guessed
- Batman Family of comics (Batman, Detective, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Birds of Prey)
- Barbara Gordon/Oracle is the cerebral nature of Batman. I never cared for Batman himself as a character because he is too monolithic. Batman works better for me as a backdrop to the rest of the Batman mythos. An ideal the other characters attempt to live up to, while constantly fearing they too will cross the line. Barbara was a casualty of war. She failed living up to the legend, yet rather than staying down, she rises back up and attempts to do it again, entirely with her mind. And in many ways, this time she has passed the line and has become as shut off and cold as Bruce while still being human in ways he isn’t.
- There is another, as yet unguessed. And for bonus points a third who receives honorable mention.
- Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats
- Cleo, probably the only animated fictional anthromorphic animal that I actually have a crush on.
- Riff Raff, the definition of cool. Short, poor, not much to look at, needed to walk with a cane, but totally smooth. The original playa’. Like Ralph Tresvant, but a cat.
- Justice League Unlimited – John Stewart, Green Lantern. The best written and most richly developed character on the show.
- Preacher
- Firefly – River is another dichotomy character. Sweet and innocent one moment, cold and deadly the next. A brilliant genius but completely delusional and confused. I like the mystery surrounding her and the randomness that she can inject into a scene. It also helps that since she is a Whedon favorite, she’s a petite little girl who can kick ass. Joss has often acknowledged he has a fetish for such. I guess I kind of share it.
- Lost in Space (Innovation comic book version)
- Penny Robinson, throughtout most of the series, I really enjoy her the best. A brainy knockout who has spent her entire puberty with the only males in her life being her brother, her father, a goofy and mildly evil old man, and her sisters fiance (who she was totally ready to steal). Penny’s hormones were so out of wack that she was just about ready to fuck any alien that looked remotely like a human male. And yet she was still the consummate brain ready to save the day with science.
- Professor John Robinson. In the last few issues, before cancellation, he develops amnesia and becomes a pipe-hitting freedom fighter on an old west style planet where he just kicked utter ass.
- Survivor Depends on the season:
- Kelly Wiglesworth – has a falling out with her alliance with 6 or 7 people left. Realizes she’s gone if she doesn’t win all the rest of the challenges. Goes on to win all the rest of the challenges. Only person on show never to have anyone vote against them.
- Colby Donaldson -Basically controlled the game and was the only interesting character up until he makes fatal flaw on the last show of picking the one person who had a shot at beating him.
- Jessie Camacho – This season sucked. I pick her because she was the cutest.
- Boston Rob Mariano – Sneaky bastard. Played the game hard. Was willing to stab anyone in the back. Came back in All Stars, and even though everyone knew he was a bastard, played exactly the same way and still managed to come in second.
- Brian Heidik – Best player on the show ever. A soft-core actor who controlled every aspect of the game from the second he stepped on the island. Did such a great job that none of the other contestants knew they were being played (he had lied about everything, even what he did for a living) until after the show was over and he had already won.
- Rob Casternino – Smartest man never to win Survivor. Controlled the game and was eventually voted out just because the other players knew he’d win. Came back for All-Stars and lost for the same reason.
- Darrah Johnson – Most successful usage of flirting to stay in the game in the whole series run. Even flirts with Probst. Also. Damn she was hot.
- Amber Brkich – Tries flying under the radar on her first appearance, comes back for All-Stars and has total strategy change. Uses sex appeal, conniving scheming, lies, and aligns herself with Boston Rob. And still mostly convinced people she was on the level. Wins
- Eliza Orlins – Clearly came in trying to play the sex appeal game, but ended up on a tribe of women who mostly hated her. Had to totally reverse her straregy and played her ass off with pretty much no help from anyone. Made it further than anyone would have ever expected her to (final 4)
- Stephenie Lagrossa – Toughest cute girl to ever be on the show. Though she personally excels in just about every challenge, the tribe has lost every immunity challenge to date and is currently outnumbered 8-2, yet I still think somehow she is gonna pull out the win. If she can make it to a tribal merge, I belive she just might be able to win every individual challenge.
- X-men
- Buffy – Faith is easily my favorite character in the whole series. I really thought that would be an easy one for people, but it took forever. Smart, Tough, Sexy and totally Bad Ass! She’s the total package. A girl you can go out and get drunk with, storm the bad guy’s lair, kill a whole buncha people and come home and screw like bunnies. Five by Five.
- Cop Rock
They’re not necessarilly all my favorites, and they’re not in any order, but they were the 10 that came to mind off the top of my head.
EDIT:Expanded to 12, so I can be just like Jameel 😛
1) B.O.B.
2) Starbuck
3) Jason Todd
4) Wordsworth
5) Black Canary
6) The Saint of Killers
7) Jayne
8) Will Robinson
10) Gambit
11) Gunn
1) Nope.
2) Yes, for the original series. Dirk Benedict just has an innate coolness that transfers through to both Starbuck and Face. I like the new Starbuck too. But I have a different favorite character for the new series.
3) Not even. Jason Todd had exactly two cool moments in his entire run. Stealing the tires off the Batmobile and pushing that guy off the ledge. Other than that, he was pretty much useless.
4) Nope
5) I’d like to say yes, but she’s just not as cool as she should be in the cartoon.
6) Good pick, but no
7) I like Jayne, and he had an awesome theme song, but he’s not my favorite.
8) Nah. I think Will had a lot of potential in the book, but it was often not realized. I think probably because Bill Mumy was too afraid of making himself the star of the book.
10) Nope
11) Hmmm… definitely a good pick, but no, not who I was thinking of.
1) The midget (and that exhausts my knowledge of Twin Peaks)
2) Haven’t seen the new one yet.
3) Okay, let’s go with Jason Todd, then.
4) Cleo
5) John Stewart
6) Cassidy
7) Mal
8) Penny
10) Forge
11) Wesley in badass mode
1) the dwarf is cool. But no.
2) You should… its great.
3) You just said that. Still no.
4) Cleo – Yes, also Riff Raff
5) John Stewart – Yes there are many characters in the DC universe who I care more about than John Stewart, but on JLU he is easily the coolest.
6) Nope
7) Definitely number 2
8) I’ll accept this. Throughout the series run, she’s the most consistently cool. She is briefly eclipsed in the last couple issues by an amnesic, pipe-hitting Professor John Robinson.
10) Certainly on my list of all time favorites. Pretty high on the list really. But not first.
11) Good choice, but no.
Whoops!
I meant Tim Drake.
10. Nightcrawler?
Re: Whoops!
Tim’s book is the one that I have read most consistently. I find him very interesting and I think there’s a lot you can do with the character. But he is not my favorite
10. No
1. The log lady!
2. Answered
3. Alfred when he went died and then went heel
4. Heathcliff?
5. Booster Gold!
6. Cassidy. Everybody loves wisecracking Irish vampires!
7. ohhhhhh I gotta watch those DVD’s. Maybe the grrl who ended up as Jasmin on ANGEL.
8. Dr Smith
9. Boston ROB!
10. Cyclops. Coolest X-Man of all time.
11. Willow! Shes cute and she kicks ass!
12. um no clue. The baritone mebbe?
1. Heh. She was cool. Especially when she hosted the reruns on Bravo. But not quite cool enough.
2. Well, you could guess for the new series
3. Nope. Actually Alfred (or specifically “The Voice”) was my favorite on the TV show, but I meant the comics
4. No. Heathcliff himself was pretty lame, really
5. Good choice, and I really enjoyed his episode, but there are a few I like better.
6. And he would probably be my second favorite.
7. That would be Zoe. And no.
8. Dr. Smith wasn’t as cool in the book as he was on the show.
9. Correct; For his season anyway. I actually have several Survivor favorites. Pretty much one per season. No one is gonna go through these, so I’ll just list them: Kelly Wiglesworth, Colby Donaldson, Jessie Camacho, Boston Rob Mariano, Brian Heidik, Rob Casternino, Darrah Johnson, Amber Brkich, Elisa Orlins, Stephenie Lagrossa
10. He’s ok. Depends on who’s writing him. Not my pick.
11. Yes she does. And of the 4 “main” characters, she’s my favorite. But not really my favorite overall.
12. uhh… more specific.
You’re favorite firefly character has got to be Morena Whasterface. The Companion.
Nope. I like her in theory. I think it was a really clever idea. But I don’t think she was actualized all that well. They only did anything interesting with the concept on the one episode where the non guild hookers have the shootout on the ranch.
Whoa, I really thought it was the companion too.
And although “Wesley in badass mode” is not your favorite (or mine either), he should be *someone*s favorite. HAhahahahahahahaha
Why does everyone think I’d like the companion? Just cuz she likes sex? Jayne, Mal, Kayleigh, Zoe and Wash all also made allusions to liking sex a whole lot, and they didn’t have to make religious experiences about it.
I don’t get the comment about Wesley. Who is the “someone”?
1) Audrey Horne? It just seems she was the hottest anyway.
11) I’ll go with obscure and guess Ethan Rayne. Or Jenny Calendar, because, also, hot.
1) Audrey was one of my 3 favorites. Care to guess on the other 2?
11) Nope and nope.
11. Spike
11. Nope – I really thought this one was gonna be easy.
I think I’ve seen all of 2 Buffy episodes in my life, and I was less than sober when I saw the movie, so forgive me for not knowing all the characters :-p
well, its been gotten already anyway. The reason I was surprised nobody got it sooner was because I’m pretty sure I’d mentioned that she was my favorite in this very LJ on several other occasions.
6. Tulip
11.Faith
6. No
11. Yes
Ooh I love Firefly! Is it Kaylee?
Me too. But nope.
Is it Wash?
Nope again…
River!
Winner!
Damn, I can’t believe this took me this long….
3. Barbara Gordon
one of two… keep going…
Black Canary or The Huntress… I’m going with Dinah.
I’m a big fan of both, but neither is the right answer.
