on watching the boob tube….

Stacked
Stacked on Fox
Starring Pamela Anderson.

Ok, time for a short shameful confession:

So last night, in the midst of boredom and the pursuit of mind numbing entertainment before going to bed, beststephi and I watched Pamela Anderson‘s new show, Stacked. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed almost the entire time it was on. I feel very dirty now.

It was honestly very good. I mean, it wasn’t hamlet or anything, but for a sitcom full of goofy sexual innuendo (the most classic of all sitcom plots), it was really quite good. The one-liners were funny, the writing was decent, the acting was surprising non-suckful, there was just enough slapstick and it had Christopher Lloyd in it as a crazy old scientist, which is a win any day of the week.

Oh, and you know, if she’s your type, I guess you can stare at her boobies or something too. Well, in as much as they are presented on a primetime show about people who work in a book store on Fox.

Has anyone else seen it? What did you think? Or should I just go hang my head in shame and join all those people who liked Baywatch?

I’ve been watching it. Yeah, it’s not too bad.

Lloyd: You know what you should sell? TANG!
    Woman: *gasp*
Other guy: No no! He meant the orange drink.

    hee hee hee…

so that was just last night. Have all the episodes been that funny? I imagine there are a lot of boob jokes. Does it get tiring after a while?

There’s only been four episodes so far. I think last night’s was slightly better than usual, but the other three were still pretty good.

And Christopher Lloyd really does add to the show.

Actually, they’ve been focusing more on Pamela’s wild party-all-night lifestyle rather than the boob jokes.

yeah, I got a tad of that from last night’s episode but I wasn’t sure if that was really part of her character or just a throw away thing. So do they ever show said party life or is all just off comments in the book store?

            all in the book store.

And are the boob jokes more or less amusing than the flat-chest jokes on Will & Grace?

see, I tire of Will and Grace as well. Its an ok show, and though I’ve never really followed it, what I’ve seen of it has had a definite aura of “every show being the same”

I think Pammy is a lot funnier than people give her credit for.

Even that silly detective show she had had its moments.

DAMNIT! If I had known it’d have Cristopher Lloyd, I’d have gladly watched it.

I was curious about that show, but not curious enough to actually *watch* it…I don’t watch TV generally speaking. I read about the show on abe’s book site; the show apparently is creating quite a stir in the bookselling community. I wonder if it will have any effect on book sales?

how much of a stir? A good stir or a bad stir? Are book selling girls rushing out to get implants and bleaching their hair blonde?

      1. May 15, 2005 at 11:19 am

“good stir or bad stir?” Hmm, the jury’s out on that one. I’ve heard lots of “supposed” pros & cons.

Book selling “girls”? heh heh! Most of the booksellers I’m acquainted with, online & off, are baby boomers- I seem to be in the minority as a genXer. I could be wrong about that. Also I’ll be sure to let you know if I see a trend towards bigger bra sizes & big blonde hair in the book community! So far, no rumors to support it but ya never know.

Personally, I am really happy & relieved to hear the show doesn’t suck. Books seem to be a lot less popular than they were even 10 years ago- and if this show does help to renew the general public’s interest in books then I’m all for it.

I swear I watched like a few minutes of it last week, and then realized something better was on. But I don’t like Pamela Anderson at all, so I don’t think I could even give it a shot. She irritates me in the same way Carmen Electra does.

see, I never much cared for Pam either. Thus my surprise when I didn’t hate the show.

But why don’t you like Carmen Electra. *snif* we might not be able to be friends anymore. 😉

Hmmm, Christopher Lloyd. And there’s really nothing on Wednesday nights, anyway. But boobosity Pamela Anderson is likely to be annoying.

see, that’s the thing. She really wasn’t. At least not for the one episode I have seen so far. The character was quite tolerable and maybe even a little clever. Surprised the hell out of me.
