on pimping my artwork…

so I haven’t been doing much in the way of creative artwork or writing lately. At the inspiration of max1975 I’ve been thinking about trying to do some though as soon as I have some free time. So in the interest of trying to inspire myself even further, I decided to post some of my old stuff, the photosketches, to my flickr stream.

There’s nothing new here. These are the same 8 pieces that have been on Elseworld for a while, but I figure I’ve got a bunch of people reading here who haven’t seen them before. So, I’m once again looking for comments. Which ones do you like? What do you not like? Why? Suggestions? Criticisms? You know the drill.

As for making new stuff, It always helps if I have volunteers. I still have a bunch of pics of katieboyd that I never did anything with. jameel was supposed to be the first male photosketch, but I lost his pics in the HD crash so i should probably redo them at some point. I also wouldn’t mind doing one of saturniakitty, if she doesn’t mind, and she can remember to send me copies of the CDs the pics I took of her. So there’s your reminder again. And once again, if you want to volunteer to be in one, let me know.

As for the writing, I want to make myself work on that too. I’ve been thinking about that. First, a while back I asked people to read some of my old novels in progress, notably, Jack’s Place and the untitled Jamie and K project (which if someone has a word doc of, can they send me. I’m pretty sure I sent it to max1975 and mamarayne). If anyone else would like to read those and give me comments, that’d be awesome. And also, I know we’ve tried this before, but what the hell, lets try again. I’d really like to get the old up and running again. So who’s interested in that?

I’d really like to get the old lx_arena up and running again.

I’ve got about 80 or 90 pages of spooky fantasy crap that needs critiquing…

I wonder if LX_Arena can handle my not especially pornographic trashy romance novel in progress. I’m only like 2 chapters in, though.

go for it… I think me and max actually did a porn challenge back in the real life LX once or something.

coolness… hey, do you have a version of my jamie and k story you can send me? I have one on elseworld, but its not the most recent. jack’s place too. I guess, though I think I have that somewhere.

Someone had expressed interest in getting the old in-person LX back up and running at some point. Since I’m moving back in two weeks and won’t really have a writing community in pgh… I was wondering if any of you felt like it would be worthwhile. I really enjoyed the in-person feedback… I could never get the hang of LX arena. I’m bad at virtuworkshopping.

I am also in favor of in-person stuff, but I’d do virtual if there was no other option. Maybe some wacky hybrid scheme will be in order if we want to accomodate far away people…do we have far away people?

I’d be in favor of it if we could all find the time and the motivation… we could certainly give it a go. The hybrid idea interests me. How would we set that up?

Time may be difficult, but we can probably work something out.

I think the hybrid thing would be we’d do LX like we used to, and far away people would just give and get comments through e-mail (or LX_arena).

I would also like to volunteer myself for a photosketch. I have spiffy two-tone hair now!!! And, I think I’m challenging, because I’m not especially photogenic.

And thirdly, I like Cheryl’s best because there’s a sense of movement and dimension in it. It’s really unique.

you think? I always find the composition of that one too busy. I like the idea of it, but I just feel like I tried to do too much.

I think the reason I like it is that it’s the one that really does more than be *just* a photo, or even a montage of photos. It feels like there’s energy in there, maybe even the hint of a narrative thread? I’ve never seen anything like that before, in one panel… you see it in comics but usually over the course of a few panels. I hope this is making sense.

how do you figure? it was still your idea.

it’s the guitar that’s vain, you see. deservedly so, of course.
