Day 28 of 365 days.
So I had been complaining a bit over the last couple of days about being out of ideas for non-gimmicky photos. I made some joking remark about regretting that I wasn’t a cute chick so that I could just toss up a couple glamour shots or artful nudes (the kinds of photos I think I am actually half decent at shooting). Each time I whined about it, I was promptly (and quite justly) smacked down my the lovely Ms. Pi c’s.
Woke up this morning without an idea at all and decide to take a couple backup pictures just in case. As I was setting up my tripod I was kind of inspired. One of the reasons I started all of this was kind of to grow as a photographer. To see what I could do without the benefit of just having a hot woman to pose for me (and therefore getting half the work done on my behalf right from the jump). Its actually somewhat challenging to get a great glamour shot of even the most gorgeous model, and I’ve been pretty impressed by the work of women like Spoonleg, Marcela P, and Lara Swift (and several others) who get one great one after another. So as a man, why can’t I do the same?
So I decided to try a little mini challenge. I’m going to spend the next week attempting to go in a bit of a different direction. In other words, over the course of the next seven days or so…
I’m bringing sexy back!
Well composed shot. I would have preferred just a little more light, to see his expression and his eyes in greater detail.

Shadowy portraits are not necesserily a bad thing, but you have to draw the viewers interest somehow. Some strong catchlight in the eyes would’ve made a whole world of a difference in this photo.

This photo has very "Ice T" feel to it. The look of sterness or anger, the glasses, the physiognomy even has similarites. Composition is good, but tonality and detail could be upped a bit.

I personally think you are a hot guy, so half the work is done for you 😉 But since I agree that glamour shots are really difficult, I think this is a fabulously done image that draws me into your very intense eyes.
