Day 75 of 365 days.

Sometimes this project is just harder than other times. I don’t know that this was a great idea in the first place, but I certainly thought it was an interesting angle, and I was intrigued by the idea of how I would pull it off. (The answer, mounting a monopod from the top of a door jam, for those who are curious).

Anyway, the draw back of course is that when doing so, there’s no good way to focus the camera on myself. Some 7 feet below. I probably should have used a larger f-stop. Oh well. Live and learn.

I really like all the photographs in your stream. Each one is unique and tells a story. I like how you share your thoughts with each image. It makes it like a living journal in a sense and I feel privileged to be able to peer into your daily life each day through your photography. 365 days is a great group and really has brought a lot of people together. I’ve only been involved for 16 days, but I’ve been checking out your stream for 2 months. Great work.

Yeah, but your shirt is in great focus. 🙂

@clarity25: Thank you. I’m quite impressed with your work as well. I find that writing the stories actually almost makes it easier. I need to keep myself really into it in order to get through the entire project. Even 75 days in, going back and looking at the shots and reading what I wrote is a very urreal experience. I can’t imagine how I’ll feel on day 366.

@synedoche: Yeah, thanks. Like I said, I guess its a lesson learned, which is half of the point of the project.

The captions def make it a better project. The detail in the shirt is great, so it came out okay.

It is still a unique/interesting shot, Chris, and a good lesson as you said.
Focus is a major ‘issue’ for me when I’m in the process of taking self-portraits.

I think I can, I think I can..I KNOW i can…you’ll figure out how to get that focus right and make some smashing shot…because that’s just what you do!

i actually like the way the focus is slightly off in this one! And, you don’t have a single hair out of place in this shot, you look very well groomed! I guess you were getting all done up for the poker game? Hope you came out of it richer than you went in…..Maybe we can get a weekend game going sometime, Parker is a poker champ!!! hahaha!

    thanx everyone.

@sarah: yeah, usually I work pretty hard on that too. But given the set up of this one, it was especially hard

@jen: Yeah, I know how I could have fixed it. I just wasn’t thinking it was going to be a problem at the time. Oh well. Something to be more aware of in the future.

@shannon: hmmm… we maybe on sunday after football?

I’m trying to imagine what it might have looked like had your face been in focus, and I think then it might have seemed off-centered. I think the focus is right where it should be, as far as this particular composition is concerned. And I do really like the angle a lot, as well as your expression. Sometimes if I do several takes it’s hard to keep a natural-looking expression, but you’ve done it!
