Day 117 of 365 days.
So one of the about a billion things that has had me stressed and tired out lately has been reading. I’ve been reading gender studies books in preparation for a paper I have to write and present at a conference in April. I’m actually pretty excited about the paper. It’ll be the first academic thing I’ve done in several years and hopefully a step towards me one day going to grad school and making something of my life (and then probably being hit by a bus and killed the day after graduation).
Anyway, on the way home from my weekly poker game today’s picture idea struck me. I would take a break from my gender studies reading to study a gender. Steph claims that I am studying the wrong gender (my paper topic is Masculinities). I argue that Playboy is a magazine for men and therefore highly relevant research. Yep, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

yeah, it’s an interesting image, not only the finger placement in the lower frame, but the way you’ve echoed the male/female sign on the book cover in the top frame… and as if that werent enough you’ve also reinforced the title of the book at the same time by enacting the male gaze … but wait lest we think you are being overly dominant you have also oh so cleverly positioned yourself in the photo as the object of our gaze too – now Im sure you meant to do all that, and more! 😉
