I did another photoshoot today. This time with my friend Nicki. I guess I could have done the same thing I did with Vanessa and Lisa and photographed myself photographing them, but I actually thought it might be nice to show "where the magic happens" for once. So this is me adjusting the lights a bit in my basement studio. Loses some of the magic, doesn’t it?
I have some 340-odd photos of Nicki to go through and edit. Her pics will be up when I get done culling and doing post on them.

I actually like seeing the man behind the curtain. That’s a lot of lights to keep track of. Can’t wait to see the results!

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)
It looks exciting to me!
wow, that’s awesome!
that sure is a lot of lights…but oh so cool! (jealousy seeping through…) i can’t wait til you do a shoot with shannon!!!
I think it’s cool, too. It’s nice to see the set-up.
*wishes she had such a fancy place to take photos*
Cool, i actually never saw that room when I was at your place..
Love the behind the scene!
What a cool setup, Mav! Thanks for showing everyone…I know lots of folks have been asking to see this exactly. Doesn’t ruin the magic at all…just gives us a better appreciation. 😉
<– is jealous.
I’m glad you all like it. It’s really not as complex as it looks, but hopefully when I’m working again and have more money I can add to it.
Hey Mav, I have set up shop in my basement also. It is much more inexpensive and the results can generally be the same. I shoot a Canon S2 IS camera not a high end high priced camera and (I think) I have good results. I do realize I need improvement but after all, "if I achieve perfection what’s the sense of setting goals". We have fun shooting and setting up. I guess that’s all that matters for us. Anyhow, stop in and feel free to check out my backdrop shots (basement shots) and of course feel free to give advice or critique any you want. Stay well.
I am distinctly envious of your photog setup…
@shinebox: thank you. I will look.
@everyday_stranger: There’s a lot you can do with a cheaper set up. I used just those four shop lamps at the top for a couple years. You can get them at home depot for like $10 each.
