Went to Brilliant, Ohio for a wrestling show today. Competed in a Tower of Terror match. Maybe one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done. Basic premise is as follows. The championship belts are strapped to the top of a 15 foot tower that extends from one of the ring posts. Then all six men in the match (it was for the tag team championship and there were three teams) beat the hell out of each other until one guy is lucky to get a moment free to climb the tower and grab the belts. The guy who gets the belts and his partner are the new champs. That was us. After a few unsuccessful attempts to get up the tower (one of which resulted in me being pulled upsidedown, hanging from the turnbuckle and straining my knee), my partner Brandon managed to get up the tower and grab the belts for us.
Technically this is not the first time I have been a champion. As I mentioned back on Feb 3rd, I was the BDW tag champ for about 15 min when I tricked the then champion into accepting me as his new partner when his original partner was deported. Also, I won the ICW/ICWA Texarkana Television Championship on November 20th, 2005 before losing it exactly 12 seconds later. This was in fact, the first time I became a champion and left the building still being a champion at the end of the night. Go me.
I would celebrate, on this fine Friday night, but my leg really does hurt, so instead I’m just going to lay in bed and enjoy this beer and wait for the Tiger Balm to kick in. Oh yeah, that’s the stuff.

@Sick Little Monkey: Thanx. And yeah, its awesome. If it felt any better, I’d do it recreationally. As for how long it lasted? Well, my first title reign was 12 seconds. My second, 15 minutes. This one I guess will be meausred in hours. So there’s a very real chance that sometime tomorrow afternoon at Steph’s nephews violin recital, someone will attack me and defeat me in the crowd.
Way to go son! I still say you’re nuts, but be the best nuts you can be! Wait ’til I show all my friends that my boy got a shiny new belt! Ooooo Ahhhh, they’re gonna be so jealous!

@lrayholly: heh… yeah, you have to be a little nuts to do it. You might have enjoyed it, but I don’t think you would have liked seeing me hang upside down from my knee.
I hope yinz had the decency to sing "we are the champions" while parading about with those classy belts.

my cousins and i would go to the amherst stadium in our rinky dink little town in nova scotia to watch wrestling and have SO much fun… we were always the worst for antagonizing the wrestlers… the time that stands out the most is screaming bobby bass can kiss our ass! in his face over and over lol…. aren’t you glad we don’t come to your matches???
