I had actually been thinking of doing this back when Steph was doing her tributes to famous paintings, but I never got around to it. But I then when I got this weeks Class With Dave assignment I was happy that I’d be able to use it. This image is of course inspired by The Son of Man by René Magritte.
Had a pretty productive day today. Dealt with unemployment compensation issues. Bought my plane ticket to Boston and registered for my conference. Even got some writing done on my paper for it and still had time to have dinner with Steph and go out for drinks with a friend. All that and I didn’t even miss Heroes or 24. Go me with the kick ass day.
Tomorrow, a nine AM interview. I’m so not used to getting up right now.
Very well re-created! And go you with the kick ass day!
@jillwrites.com: thank you. and thank you. 🙂
Awesome job! Love that you changed your icon to this too! 🙂 Good luck on the interview tomorrow… let me know how it goes.

nice shot! the hat suits you better than a bowler would (I actually have a bowler hat sitting on a shelf waiting for me to do my version of this idea… we’ll see if I get around to it) Seeing your eyes is different from the "faceless businessman" thing that Magritte has going on, but I like your eyes better anyways.
Wow you totally kick ass!!!! This shot is so awesome, I knew what it was right away when I saw the thumbnail. I’m a bit of an "Art" freak. I really love Dali when singling out the surrealists, but you know I liked Magritte’s stuff too.
Heh heh, love this, superb idea and excellent timing!
fantastic!
Great photo! You did a great job of recreating the picture.
Good luck on that interview this morning!
@lrayholly: Actually, I change my icon to the new pic every day. I guess you just never noticed. Yeah, I’ll call you later.
@mickeysacks: I wasn’t so much planning to be able to see my eyes, it just worked out that way. The apple wasn’t big enough to obscure my entire face, and his has leaves on it.
@PhotoKat: I’m glad. I wanted to pick something that was definiteiyl recognizable.
@SU365: Not really excellent timing. It took 40 shots to get it right.
@Okaypro: Thank you.
@Travelinjim: Thanks and thanks, Jim
kick ass photo

Great job, Mav!
Hope your interview is going well this morning!
Well done. I like the chosen hat and suit. Sort of an updated Son of Man.

@gardenhoe/sara: thank you.
@peculiar235: ah… you actually did the background. I thought about it, but for once I kind of wanted to be photoshop light. I even threw the apple rather than just photoshopping it in front of my face.
@sadandbeautiful (Sarah): thanx. And it went pretty well, I think. We’ll see.
@Cayusa: thank you. Funny thing about the tie. I actually wanted to use my solid red tie, but I couldn’t find it.
So creative and well thought out.
I think you did a great job.
@elladog: well, I don’t know how creative it was since it was a copy, but thank you for saying so. 🙂
How’d the interview go?
Ooops, just read the comment above. Glad it went well!
@Travelinjim: yep. it went ok, and after I made that comment, I got a call from the recruiter saying they heard it went well as well as a call from another recruiter saying another company probably wants to talk to me soon…. so that’s good.
Excellent news!
@Travelinjim: yep. Thanx
Good effort! I like the fact that you just threw the apple ;¬)

@rutty: Thanx. My original plan was to do it without photoshop at all. But I appear to be incapable of taking a picture and posting it without some touch up.
This is great…fabulous….fantatstic. I love it.
@sassyshannon999: thanx. I’ve actually had an idea, just for you, for the last couple of days that I just haven’t had time to shoot yet… i might do it today.
One more great shot of yours! 😉
@lagreenfrog: thanx. I;m glad you like it.
I love Magritte!!!
@Eudaemonian: I’m glad you like it.
