One of my earliest ideas was to do a fetal position pic in this project. I just never really got around to it. Funny because it seemed like a really obvious backup picture to do. Turns out, not so much. First of all, I’m neurotic and certainly couldn’t just lay down and snap the shot, so I had to design a totally new lighting concept in the basement studio. Then once I did that, I had to shoot it exactly right. Then I wasn’t happy with how it looked so it was off to a lot of photoshopping to create that perfect high contrast look I wanted. I finally think I got it.
Steph and I did the last of the touch ups in the attic today, so now we’re just waiting for the carpet to be installed. Then our bedroom will move and our old bedroom will be the new guest room/studio. I can’t wait.

I think it turned out marvelously well, so your efforts weren’t wasted 🙂 I love all the white and your low position in the frame…great shot!!
Very cool.
Just beautifully done!!
Wow, really well done! I too, like the low position.
@Vashtia: thanx. For once I was actually pleased with how this came out.
@Jack Scoresby: thanx
@sadandbeautiful (Sarah): I’m glad you think so.
@lrayholly: yeah, I really thought having it cropped like that added something.
Fantastic! And Jessi-tastic!
@jillwrites.com: thanx, jill
This is beautiful Mav.
I really like this shot. It’s awesome.
Good one! I like the fact that you’re small on the picture, and that there is lot of space around you.
Wow; I think there may be more white pixels in this photo than in your previous 211 combined 🙂
Whatever you did to create this new "lighting concept" was certainly worth the effort.

a fave! it’s nice to see you step out of the lines of the black background every now and again….and this one was done superbly! may have to borrrow this idea….later 😀
I love this one, Mav.
Not only because it’s Jessi-riffic, but because it’s an absolutely beautiful photo. Very well done. 🙂
@gimmie_shoes: thank you.
@PhotoKat: Thank you.
@lagreenfrog: yeah, I really like the feel of emptiness to it.
@wooble: hey, I’ve used white pixels before… at least a few of them. I mean, my eyes have white in them. Actually, I had to do a lot of rethinking how I use my lights. Created an overexposed virtual room is completely different from creating a completely dark room, which I usually do.
@pi c’s: hey, I haven’t done a solid black background pic in almost 2 weeks. And please, borrow away, I’d love to see your take on it.
@jessi.: well that’s nice to hear, coming from the queen of jessism. Thank you.
All your work on the shot is evident. It is beautiful.
@decembre71: thank you. I’m glad you like it.
nice one.
@Sze Ning: thanx
Explore baby.
@PhotoKat: yep… of course, not on YOUR level or anything, but its there. 🙂
fuckin awesome
@sassyshannon999: 🙂 thanx. And thanx for the fave. I’m glad so many people liked this one.

that’s really fantastic! love the concept and the angle of the shot is really unique 🙂
@nicolinightfever: thank you. I was quite pleased with how it turned out myslef. And thank you for the fave.
ace shot.
@WatermelonSugar: thank you.
Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Leaving Something For the Imagination, and we’d love to have your photo added to the group.
This is my favorite of the high-key ones of you. Definitely include it in the show. A much more interesting take on the fetal position due to the angle and the blasting out of your shoulders. Damn! There’s enough light in there to make a black man disappear!
@koolkellygirl: thank you, I have added it.
@marmal8: yeah, I’m quite certain that if I am going to include myself, this is the shot I’m going to use.
Thanks, Maverick!
@a butterfly: for what?
Is this going in the Black and Light exhibit? Because this is phenomenal.
I mean, the others are also beautiful. But wow.
@gotplaid?: it is. And thank you.
