I’ve done long exposure shots before, even in this project, so I was really hoping to use this weeks Class With Dave assignment to do something else, but I haven’t had the time what with working on my paper (I’ve gotten it "complete." Tomorrow is for editing and turning it from a twelve page paper into a ten minute speech.
I played with shots using my siren before, so now I decided to try something with my strobe light. I’ve mentioned before I think that I’m not a fan of flash photography, so I don’t have any studio strobes. What I do have is a party strobe light. So I decided to experiment with it a bit. It’s nice to experiment every once in a while, but I think I’ll be going back to my standard style.
Does this look as schizophrenic as I feel?
Yes – totally schizo – but fab! great job!
In the thumbnail I thought you were a pissed off genie.
this rocks! I gonna try this sometime. nice! You ever take any pix with you smiling?
cwd
That is SWEET! You are so making me want to do something else for this assignment 🙁
@Agent Retro: thanx.
@Travelinjim: I actually wanted to do a genie in the lamp pic, but I don’t have a good lamp for it yet.
@FuzzyB: rarely… I prefer my "stoic" look. but on occasion I do. These are all smiles, kinda:
I almost never smile showing my teeth. It’s really not intentional. I just am uncomfortable with it. I had a horribly mangled jaw when i was a kid and kind of trained myself to smile without showing my teeth because they were REALLY bad. As I mentioned on yesterday’s pic, I now have close to perfect teeth, but I’ve never gotten over the mental block of smiling that way.
@lrayholly: well, it’d be a lot harder with only a 4 second exposure. But thanx.
Wild! (Love your avatar photo, btw).

Seen in Take a class with Dave & Dave (?)
@Cognitive Ambition: Thanks. You probably saw my avatar before I changed it. I change it every day to whatever my 365 pics is.
This rocks!
@Ms.Blue: thank you.
You know, your face seems to change with each stance…I kept looking from face to face to face…strobe idea worked
@abchick: I was actually trying to look a little different in each one. I’m glad someone caught it. I didn’t think it really came across.
At first I thought it was kinda menacing… like said, you looked pissed off. But then after looking at it a while, I started laughing at the different expressions. Now this image strikes me as really funny. I think it’s just great. Way to go! Have a rockin’ time in LV.

Seen in Take a class with Dave & Dave (?)
@JeffCam: thanx. And I;m going to Boston, not Las Vegas.
I think it’s really neat!
I’ve not played much with long exposure yet…and don’t think I’ll be able to get any of my assignments done by tomorrow. The only one I’ve even attempted was "grit"…and that was the easiest…so I may just use this as my first trial week…and really try to start in on assignments next week. Besides, next week is #13, my lucky number….best to wait til then anyway 😀
Have fun in Boston!!!
Very cool! I really like the way this came out. I looked everywhere for my party strobe light and I couldn’t find it – it wouldn’t of come out this awesome anyway 🙂

Seen next to a fellow photo of Take a class with Dave & Dave. (?)
@pi c’s: I’m probably only going to finish this one. Unless I’m inspired to do stuff after my talk tomorrow somewhere in Boston. We’ll see. Thanx.
@evaxebra: thank you. You should try to do something with it if you find it. It’s not a terribly useful thing for all the time, but it was fun to play with.
Love this…I don’t have any strobes whatsoever unfortunately, spent the lighting money on an iMac…..
@SU365: Thank you. I don’t have actual flash strobes. What you’re looking at here was done with a strobe light from radio shack that you use for parties and stuff. I got it as a gift, but it probably costs $10-20.
That’s so cool, what a good use of a strobe light. I like how it turned out, very ghostly, I counted the yous to see if there was eight, one for each second and there is!
@Kungfukitten: I was actually initialy tying to do that, then I gave up. I guess it worked out anyway.
This is really cool…I love the long exposure shots!
Thinking of you and your presentation! 😀
@sadandbeautiful (Sarah): It was fun to work on. Its not really something I would do often, but I thought it was a newat effect.
Wow! I have yet to do anything like this! I’m hoping for some sort of photographic osmosis…the talent will soon trickle down to me!! Nice one Chris!
@Leepak: thank you for the compliment. The shots in your stream are creative. Don’t sell yourself short.
supercool, Mav. luv the color and effects. awesome work.
@luvhumpbacks: thank you.
