So in the middle of the day, Steph walks up to me and says that since its a nice day we should go out and see the buffalos. I counter with the obvious. Yes, it is a nice day, but we live in Pittsburgh, there are no buffalos. She assured me there were and so we went to a park that she likes to go to. It has a wildlife reserve in it. We wandered around for a bit. Saw some ducks. Saw some geese. Saw a peacock. Then we walked up a hill and saw… well, nothing. So then we walked down the hill on the other side. I’ll be damned. Buffalos. In Pittsburgh. Who’d have thunk it.
Sadly (or perhaps not) they keep the buffalos in a double fenced in area so you can’t really get close to them, but even worse its hard to focus through the fence and get me in focus at the same time. This was the best I could do.
But really… damn… there’s a herd of buffalos in Pittsburgh.
Nice pic, but I’m sorry, that’s just freaking bizaar!
@lrayholly: yep… i thought so
Wow, a herd of buffalos. Buffaloes? Buffaloos? I bet you’re the only person in 365 who has a self-portrait with a buffalo. You should start a buffalo mini challenge just to be a smart ass. 😉
@Kungfukitten: I’m tempted… but there’s already enough mini challenges that no one does, I think.
hmmm, we went to a nature center today…though i go quite frequently now, chris had never been. it’s a really great learning experience. i knew that MD used to have an elk population but i didn’t realize just how much til i went there and was reading some of the history. it’s pretty neat.
too bad that the buffaloes are in such thick fencing…but like you said, maybe not…though does it need to be SO much.
good work on the pic!
@pi c’s: well, at least it was better than being at the zoo. I tend to find the zoo REALLY depressing.
Glad you like it. Thanx.
