Day 258 of 365 days.

So I had a photoshoot scheduled for today, but the model called me a couple hours before and let me know that she was having car problems and wouldn’t be able to come. We had to reschedule for next week.

That pretty much left the rest of my day open. Oh the things I could accomplish…

I settled on taking an extended nap.

I was proactive enough to both shower and make my bed today. Go me.

I have another photoshoot scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully that one will work a little better.

In the mean time, I did get a chance to execute an idea that I’d had for a while.

Maybe I’ll come up with something interesting for a self portrait during tomorrow’s shoot. We’ll see.

This seems well executed. Thought I’m not sure if this is what you were going for or not. I’d like to try a shot like this now. How did you light this and what background?

I think, no I know, this is the best hand portrait ever done in the history of photography 😀 Actually, it really is quite stunningly well done! This is art.

I came back to fave this. I almost didn’t because I’ve faved so many of your’s lately. But I have to. I guess it’s not your fault that your stuff has been so impressive. Actually, it is, but I’m faving it anyway.

Great hand portrait!! I’m a hand person…it’s the first thing I look at when I meet people….and yours are very nice! I’m gonna have to go ahead and fave it too…

@Tojosan: I’m pretty happy with it. There’s a 500 watt soft light at camera left on a 45 degree angle and a 250 watt boom light over the hand pointed down at maybe 80 degrees.

@lrayholly: thank you. Feel free to fave every shot.

@Dshalock the Libertarian: thank you, glad you like it.

@Sick Little Monkey: thanks. I actually just wanted to do something a little different. I had been doing a lot of headshots and candids, so i thought it was time to go somewhere else for a change.

@Rachel-B: thank you. I really like the fading into shadows effect and I use it a lot. Sometimes I worry if I overdo it.

it’s so effective, i wouldn’t worry about over-doing it. this is amazing on black as well – just a floating hand. 🙂

Seen in my recent comments. (?)

The lighting really works quite well in this shot, you’ve obviously put some thought into it.

Remember the hand at the dawn of time from Crisis on Infinite Earths? You should try doing that.

@sui66iy: I have something kind of like that planned for my Tarot "World" card. I need a good hand model for it though.
