Day 264 of 365 days.
There’s a lot that goes into this whole being a drifter thing. It’s not just banging farmers daughters and saving the world from alien invasions. You also need to make some money. Sure, you can get decent room and board by shoveling horse manure or stacking hay, but that just gets you a cold place to sleep. You’re still going to need vodka to keep you warm.
That’s where poker comes in.
Played some Texas Hold’em tonight. Ended up the big winner, making an astounding 30 bucks. It’s not exactly a World Series of Poker championship, but it’ll get ya drunk.
Congratulations! Rolling in the dough, a whole other occupation avenue to explore!
And when you say "it’ll get ya drunk", does that mean you’re buying me drinks tonight?

Poker player here too, although, I had to lay off after my daughter was born. Sad, because I was actually a winning player (tracked it for years). I just can’t risk the fluctuations in the bankroll anymore. Winning’s great, but, how could I come home after losing several hundred dollars when that could’ve been applied to so many other things.
I miss it though. 🙁
@Whiffleboy: we just play a friendly game with friends. $10 buy-in. It’s the social aspect as much as anything else.
I hear ya, bro. Our home game started out chump change but grew over the years to, sometimes, $700 pots on a single hand. Good times. 🙂
@Whiffleboy: yeah, we pay tournament style. Only $10 per person, starting with 5 and 10 cent blinds. So for $700 people, we’d need 70 people in the game. This week there were only 4.

I play about once a month. Usually something like $60 buy-in with 15-20 people…so so so much fun. Especially when you WIN, but even when you don’t. 🙂
