Page of Swords

Page of Swords

I’ve been getting a lot of sword cards done lately, and so here’s another. Liz came over to pose for me again yesterday and we shot the Page of Swords. This is cool because Liz posing for me last time was what gave me the idea of shooting this deck in the first place, and I was pretty sure where I wanted to use her. So hopefully this one came out ok.

Let me know what you think.

It’s rather, er, crotch-centric. Kind of weirds me out.

I’m with sui66iy, it’s a little crotchy. Also the shadow under her rib draws a lot of my attention, like a boob. It’s weird. Maybe you’re going for all this, I don’t know enough of the tarot to know what this card means. I like the look on her face and position of her arms.

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)

I like her face much better than the Queen of Swords.

As said, it is very her crotch, but, um, the lense flare just really… its location and color aren’t the best for me. I don’t mind that the positioning looks very sexual, but that bottom brown lens flare is not good to my imagination.

I’m *really* liking the Sword set. *Really* liking it.

@sui66iy: just because it’s blatant? (which is kind of what I was going for) or something else?

@lalalaa Dolce Vita: then the same question I asked to him. Is it the blatancy or something else? As for the heavy shadow under the rib, that’s from the posterization. I want it stark, but maybe I’ll experiment with lightening it a bit.

@Princess Diablo: I actually don’t care much for the bottom circles of the lens flare either. Might work on removing them. Glad you like them.

I think it’s the geometry of the photo. You’ve basically set it up as a squat triangle, the center of mass of which is this black void which happens to be in her crotch. To me, it gives the photo a rather heavy feeling, and draws the eye to her crotch (but not in a sexy way). The whole thing makes the sword sort of an after-thought.

@sui66iy: well, it is the rebellion card. I wanted it to be in your face. I imagine others would think its sexier than you do. But I see your point.

@Princess Diablo: Changed the lens flare. Does that help?

I like it pretty well, except i also think it’s a bit more crotch-centric than I’d prefer, and not in a particularly sexy way. I would probably go for a bit less light in the thighs to draw the focus more upward.

I don’t think it’s the blatancy necessarily, not the perceived intention anyway, it’s not vulgar, not in my eyes. I think it’s the contrast between black and white. If the tights and her skin were closer in tone, I think it wouldn’t be as apparent, but the white thighs flanking black crotch just make it pop.
The rib thing is a minor thing, easy to blur a little.

    I don’t think it’s too crotch-y. I’m more drawn to her face. 🙂

Yeah, it does. (I thought I was crazy for a second because I noticed they went away before I looked at the comments.) So I’m wondering if all the "crotchy" comments are paying attention to the fact the card is rebellion. It very much says "this is my sex, so?" to me in a non-sexual way.

@bk7j: you mean the stockinged part or the unstockinging part? I actually wanted to make her really sharply pop out like that and I was almost thinking she ws too light.

@lalalaa Dolce Vita: OK, yeah, I see your point. Its just that I kind of did it on purpose.

    @terpsichoreann: Thanks.

@Princess Diablo: well, that was my hope anyway. I mean, she’s pretty to start with just because Liz is, but I wanted to make sure she was definitely in your face and almost pushy. I have shots where her legs are crossed, but they just don’t feel rebellious. I kind of like that this one is forceful and "crotch centric" as people are saying and yet, her crotch isn’t even actually in the picture.

Keep it crotchy, Mav! Keep it crotchy!

@MegaBee: I am. This is one that I love.

This one is such a strong image. One of the best of the set.

Seen in your The Maverick Tarot set. (?)

@Sick Little Monkey: thanks. I’m amazed at how polarizing this one was.
