I’ve been getting a lot of sword cards done lately, and so here’s another. Liz came over to pose for me again yesterday and we shot the Page of Swords. This is cool because Liz posing for me last time was what gave me the idea of shooting this deck in the first place, and I was pretty sure where I wanted to use her. So hopefully this one came out ok.

Yet another tarot card complete. I think Yara was perfect for my Queen of Swords. She had just the right mix of sex appeal and sophistication. When I found out she was a belly dancer as well, I knew exactly where I wanted to take this card. I modified the illustration processing technique slightly from what I did with the Jack of Swords card, and I think I’m pleased with the results. Its a little less comic booky than my original technique. I think it lends more of a fantasy look. The question is, should I stick with it? Should I change the Jack to look like this as well or should I allow some variance of style between cards of the same suit?
Opinions welcome and encouraged.

This is a simple high key effect. I really like how well she blends into a white background. Obviously I do this trick with myself on black backgrounds a lot. But i like the alternate effect too.

This was more of an outtake than anything else. I tend to talk and joke around with my models while I’m shooting. And sometimes I’ll snap a shot when they’re not really posing. Here’s Liz laughing and adjusting her shirt sleeve between poses.

When we were doing her shoot, I took this half body shot and immediately said to her "you know, you’d make good desktop wallpaper." So I pulled this together and you know, I think I’m right.

This was a close second pick for the page card. Ultimately, I decided that the one I picked was much more rebellious and and bold and therefore used it for the Page, but I liked this shot so much that I wanted to do something with it. So I processed it with what I am calling my "300 effect." I like how it turned out a lot.
Day 281 of 365 days. Basically took it easy today. Spent the morning editing pics from Thursday’s photoshoot (there should be some posted soon) and then took a nice long hot tub soak. That did wonders for my back. I’m still hurting a bit, but it really is much better. I’ll say it again, if…
