It rained today. Pretty much all day actually. It would stop for a bit and then rain again.
I mostly stayed in and worked on photos (of Laurie, which were artistic nudes, and I expected them to get a lot more play than they did. Oh well.) and watching TV. I did talk to a couple more models and I heard from a recruiter about yet another longshot job. Maybe something will come of that.
Other than that, today was uneventful. I took this picture out in the storm, was hoping to get a bit more rain than I did, but oh well. Photographing rain is always hard.
Other than that not much is going on. Maybe I’ll do something interesting tomorrow.
i really really like this shot. a lot. there’s this something about it that i can’t quite articulate. maybe because these are the kind of days i like. maybe it’s the lighting; the warm rain. whatever it is, i love it.
heh heh, I thought maybe you got lost looking for the swimming pool. Like maybe you went out the front door instead of the back! I guess you got the same weather that we did today… soggy again.
It’s sooo damn hard to photograph rain! I recently tried. I like this though! the expression and backround is powerful to me!
@avolare: thank you. I wasn’t sure it worked. I have to point out, this is the third day in a row that I have used a flash. Maybe I’ll try to use it all week.
@lrayholly: nah, I just thought I’d stand out in the rain and cool off. It’s like the poor man’s pool. 🙂
@Agent Retro: thank you. I’m glad you like it. Such positive feedback for what was essentially a phoning it in shot.
I like your neighborhood. Such a different environment than ours.
Still trying to get that "standing out in the pouring rain" shot? I keep thinking that’d make a good SP too.

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
@Whiffleboy: What do you like about it? I mean, its ok. Not awful. Not great.
@Travelinjim: Yeah, this one is ok, I guess… But you really need a lot of rain to do it right. A whole lot of rain. It always looks like less on film (errr memory card). And also its hard to plan for. I have to get the camera set up and get out there before the rain slows down. And I’m also kinda afraid to really be out there when its pouring with my nice expensive camera.
I wish we’d gotten some rain. It spit some wet stuff from the sky for, oh, i dunno, maybe 2 minutes…..then it just became even muggier and more disgusting than it already was.
oh, yeah, i’m not here to rant about the weather…i’m here b/c of your photo 🙂 I’m laughin at your mom’s comment….got lost on your way to the pool 😛
i think that you managed to capture the rain in this one pretty damn good! and yes, please….don’t take the nice expensive camera outside in a downpour….unless it’s wrapped, extra thick, in something waterproof….do they make something like that for those cams? i mean, they must….they make every other gadget! if not….maybe you just found a new adventure…create one, market it and voila! you don’t have to work!
this is a GREAT shot, chris. love the feel of this… so so thick … you know? i dig it, man!
@pi c’s: actually, by the time I went out it was raining a little less, so I just took the camera out and went for it. It is reasonably durable. I mean, people take cameras into warzones. But I don’t have the benefit of replacement, so I was just as careful as possible.
I like this one a lot, too. The color contrast between your skin and the drabness of the neighborhood is what does it. It almost looks like you photoshopped yourself onto the background.
@beststephi: you’ve figured me out. I actually took this one at my private studio in new zealand and added the background in post. You ruined it, sweetie! 🙂 Actually, thank you. I’m glad you liked it.
