What you’re looking at is a good old fashioned hole digging.

So yesterday I was hanging out with my next door neighbors and talking about Jammy Jam and how some of the bands I’ve booked have expressed a desire to play outside. Emily, my neighbor, said "too bad we never finished that deck we were building. They could play there." Jammy Jam is a week from Friday. The wheels started turning. I looked at Mike (Emily’s husband) and asked if he thought the two of us could build a deck in less than two weeks. And thus today’s hole digging began.

I worked on it from around 11:30 AM to about 8:30 PM when we decided to call it a day because of a pretty close call with lightning (yet another thing to worry about at Jammy Jam). Mike came home and helped around 4:30 and another neighbor helped from about 7 to 8:30. All in all we’d estimate we removed around a ton or so of dirt and clay (maybe more) and moved maybe another ton. Plus a lot of breaking up the ground with the pick axe (what you see me doing here) and repairing that brick retaining wall.

We may actually get this done after all.
