I was quite happy to work with her, since through happenstance right now, the deck was very "caucasian." It’s been hard to find people of color for it. Especially women. I was hoping her complexion still comes across well in the B&W.
The big challenge here was representing "love" while only using one person so that it conceptually fit with the other twos in the deck.
Interpretation, comments and criticism welcome as always, and in fact encouraged.
Well, she’s lovely…I’m curious about the chair. It seems a little out of place in this deck from what I’ve seen so far. No? I don’t know what any of these things are supposed to represent, of course…so maybe I’m just missing something.
I guess this one feels very "tame" for lack of a better word.
@d.rex: hmm… well I was hoping to make the cups and coin suits a little more passive than the dynamic swords and staff suits. I guess I haven’t done as many of them yet, but that’s why they tend to be sitting and relaxing. What I was going for was the feeling that you were on a date with the model. I wanted her to be inviting and charismatic instead of forceful if that makes sense. Especially with a concept like love. I just didn’t want any aggression in it. I don’t know if its comoing across right or not.
I think this has less comments because it went up at the same time as a lot of other pictures (so if you only see the most recent three/five from your contacts page this would have scrolled off) and it isn’t brightly colored. I watch for the tarot cards, so I saw it by layout, but it isn’t very eye catching at 1 inch by 1 inch or whatever. Also, she’s not doing a super sexy pose, so I suspect that would lower views. But I don’t think it has anything to do with the model or the picture.
She’s got a really great smile. Kinda wish the glass was just a bit more down so that we could see it.
I really like the second glass. It is welcoming to the viewer, drawing them in.
@Princess Diablo: I actually took some where the drink was lower, and some where she wasn’t even holding it, but they didn’t seem to have the same appeal to me as this. I kind of feel more like she’s in the moment and less like she’s posing when she’s actually drinking, if that makes sense. And yeah, not ever hard can be as sex kitteny, same thing about not wanting to rely on a gimmick.
And yeah, I really think the second glass adds to it too. Thank you.
Hmmmm…. If this is the two of cups… and the card is about Love… shouldn’t there be TWO people in this card? Maybe, each holding a cup… arms entwined… like at a wedding or something?
