And the hits just keep on coming. Got my truck back today. It was nice driving it for the first time in a couple months. However when I woke up this morning, my computer was dead. AGAIN! Nothing I could do could revive it. I did manage to yank the hard drive and get it backed up to my work computer. Took it into the Apple Store and the problem was exactly what I expected. Dead logic board. So now I’m without a computer for the next few days. And I haven’t finished rebuilding Steph’s laptop yet either. It’s up enough that I was able to post this, but I’m without photoshop or any other editting software for the moment. I know I promised I was going to try to do some non-lame shots, but without software my hands are tied. So now it’s a few days to a week of all in camera (and a several copies old version of iPhoto) editting. Maybe it will be a good learning experience.
om
always had that problem my my old iBook. Logic board kept going out. 3 times.
Nooooo! Sad! I have faith that you can produce some utterly kick ass photos without the use of PS. 🙂
@Mikey: yeah, my old ibook had that problem too. Which is why I switched to the powerbook. And now it happened with my macbook. *sigh*
@adayinthelife: I’m gonna try anyway. I really feel like my arm got cut off without it.
So how many days until you have it fixed? Make ya a deal… I will pretend I have no photoshop for my sp’s until you get your computer fixed and can use it again. I am a PS whore, so this would be a bit of a challenge for me…
(*this may be for purely selfish reasons, I need a challenge personally… slacked off far too long*)
That’s oh so sad 🙁
You have nice hardware. Software is overrated in the hands of a guy with a good eye for light and composition.
This is excellent for "software-challenged"!
Okay, was that just too sexual a double entendre, until I got to "…with a good eye for light and composition." ????
Mmm-hmmm, hardware and software — quite complementary!
I love the pop of your shirt color against the black background! Truly great photo!!!
nice lighting!
Damn, dawg.
At my previous job (as a video editor), I needed Photoshop to properly do my work, but the company (which was sort of a start-up company that didn’t have a lot of money) wouldn’t buy it for me, despite saying that they would – so I know the "I feel like my arm got cut off" feeling. It’s hard to get by without the necessary software.
Hope your computer gets fixed soon!
@adayinthelife: oh you don’t have to do that, but thanks. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. But if you go for it, good luck.
@lrayholly: yeah, it is… *sigh*
@phlewght: I’m all about innuendo generally, and I really didn’t see it. But thanks.
@Self Expression 27: thank you. It’s kinda intentional, and kind of a happy accident. I was wearing that outfit all day, and since I knew I wouldn’t be able to correct anything in post, I just had to be very careful about my lighting.
@manamhr: thank you.
@MegaBee: yep.
@laffy4k: I’ve had that happen on SEVERAL contracts. I usually just end up using my own copy on my own machine.
mav, you give photoshop too much credit.
@ms.Tea: It’s not that. Bt it is a tool that i prefer to use. Not having it makes me feel just as naked as not having my camera.
heya. just thinking of you because i passed on your flickr site to a friend who’s working on a tarot deck. ya got mad skills mav 🙂 happy saturday
@secret alien girl: thank you. I still need to do more tarot cards. I’ve been light on models lately.
it’s me jessie doncaster by the way
@secret alien girl: yeah, I could tell once I looked through the stream. Why the new one?
I think she was abducted by aliens.
@phlewght: who squishied her head?
She was talking about some guy named Mac who came into her life. Maybe he did it.
There are a lot of Scots up there in Canada, y’ know.
@phlewght: So its a Canadian alien from Scotland?
sorry you’ve had such problems…but it’s a good thing you’re working again so that you can pay for the problems. doesn’t it always seem to go that way…you start earning money, thinking you’ll be in the clear and then something else goes wrong and leaves you right where you were in the first place.
GOOD LUCK!
I think that being without the editing tools is a good thing though…practice getting them right without help 🙂
@pi c’s: luckily, they got the computer back to me in less than 24 hours. So all is good.
Close. She’s an alien posing as a Canadian from Nova Scotia, but I think Mac is from Cupertino, CA. She’s so happy he came to live with her.
@phlewght: do these internet relationships ever work?
