Halloween is coming. All my life Halloween has been my favorite holiday. My mom was always a big fan so growing up, we always made a big deal of it. Homemade costumes, free candy, a haunted house in our living room. In a lot of ways it was better than Christmas.
As I grew older, my love of Halloween continued. I began having my own Halloween parties. I began making extravagant costumes that I began planning and putting together months in advance.
Halloween is in 13 days. I got nothing. *sigh*
I’m sure I’ll figure it out, but its troubling.
In other news, I’ve been trying to work through another concept shoot. Don’t worry, I’m still planning on finishing the tarot project, it’s just that its taking me longer than I want it to. 78 cards is a lot. Anyway, the new idea is a calendar. Based on the Zodiac. It’s a concept that Sarah and I have been working on. Each month would feature a glamour lingerie shot and be inspired by the appropriate astrological sign.
So would anyone be interested in that? I’d like to pay my models this time, so it’d be great if I knew I could sell it.
And does anyone have ideas as to how to get a calendar published? I’m not sure if the right thing is to do it myself using an online publishing company or to try and pimp it out to a publishing company, like I’m trying to do with the tarot cards. Anyone ever do anything like this?
Sigh… this being an artist stuff is hard.
Complicated at the very least.
This pic is rather frightening in & of itself! Can’t imagine the costume you’ll come up with this year! Are you doing the party this year?
@lrayholly: yeah… we’re set for Nov. 3rd.
I think calendars are similar to tarot cards. There’s certain publishing companies that specialize in them. My first thought was Llewellyn, as they like witchy-poo things. I’m not sure how they’d feel about the pin up girls. It probably depends on how naked and how much of an astrological feel the calendar has. If you struck the right balance you could probably draw in a large New Age/Wicca/Aquarius crowd. I’d certainly hang that calendar on my fridge!
@Kungfukitten: so you think I’m better off doing a publishing company than self publishing?
@ms. pinkietoes: So far so good. Let’s hope it continues.
