I love having a long weekend. It seems like its been so long since I really had a chance to just relax and think.
Looked out my back window and saw that my yard is covered with yellow leaves that have fallen off of our trees. My mother is alway telling me that there isn’t enough color in my photos, and I just thought that was gorgeous so I figured I might as well take a shot there. Of course, bright isn’t really my thing, so i still had to tone it down a bit in post. But I love the decaying feel of it.
Peaceful, that’s what this looks like. This is a wonderful shot.
I’m wondering though… you aren’t planning to rake all of those suckers are ya?

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)
Definitely not your usual style here. But I like it anyways. We don’t usually get a lot of fall color in Seattle (tho’ this year the weather cooperated). But it’s nice to see some of it in abundance. And you look very serene and pensive in that pose.
@lrayholly: oh heavens no. I’m going to let the snow fall right on top of it, then when it melts it more or less decomposes into the grass.
@mickeysacks: thanks… It was nice to just sit there and think for a little bit.
This is a nice, peaceful, contemplative photo. Nice job. It looks like the break was a good thing for you.
@Travelinjim: yeah, I need all the peace I can get. Thanks.
you just couldn’t let your mom see all the color could you? i mean, you’ve got all those, i bet, bright yellow leaves surrounding you and you had to go and partially desaturate the photo??
okay, i’ll lay off. i like this shot…but i think i may have liked more color meself 🙂
@pi c’s: and yet she faved it. If I’ve learned anything from pro-wrestling, it’s "never shoot your wad on one match. Always leave them wanting more." Though honestly, I just didn’t like it with when it was all bright. The leaves are just this unnatural shade of yellow right now.
love the mood here.
and i like the leaf idea… decomposed leaves should be good fertilizer for the lawn next spring.
@jwill9311: well, its worked the last couple years
great composition and good use of the rule of thirds
