Helluva day!
So the battery in my laptop has been acting up and not holding a charge since I went to Florida last week. I didn’t have time to deal with it though so I put it off till today to go to the Apple store and get a replacement.
Then, as I was about to go, I got a call from my mom. Trying to answer it killed my cell phone. I had been wanting to get an iPhone but was waiting til my contract was up in August. Well, buying a new phone didn’t make any sense, so I called Verizon to see what my options were for phone replacement. They told me my contract was up in May not August. The world look a little brighter. I could just pay off two months of contract and switch to AT&T.
Went to the Apple store and got a new battery, but they were out of 16GB iphones. So Steph and I rushed out to the AT&T store. When I called Verizon they told me my contract was actually up in September. They would allow me to upgrade my plan with another 2 year contract now though. Uh, yeah, no thanks. Furthermore they were dicks about it and they wanted to charge me a couple hundred bucks to replace Steph’s cell (which is also broken — she’s got a family plan line under me and is ineligible for discounts). Thanks but no thanks. So $175 penalty payment and I am free.
So now I have an iPhone. Spent all night getting things set up right and I still need to call tomorrow to verify some stuff, but at least I have a phone again.
Meanwhile, my mom’s computer is also acting up, so I ended up talking her through fixing it all night.
You know, the world was much better when we communicated by beating sticks against rocks.
I agree. Sometimes I want to move to some far ass place in Africa or somewhere and have no internet or phones or TVs or anything. Just to be at peace.
I really hate stupid cell phone contracts. That’s the worst scam of all time. My son REALLY wants an Iphone for his birthday. As cool as they are, it seems really crazy to me to spend that kind of cash on a phone, but that’s probably what he’ll get. We’re with Verizon now, but I see a change coming.
Love that pic! And thank you again – Big Time – for getting me up and running again!

Fabulous!!! This is very funny!
Sorry for the trouble, but good for you! I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as I do mine.
hooray for Mac geekdom! Sorry your hardware’s been acting up, but of course I love that you commemorate it with this shot. Even if you did copy me. (because of course I wasn’t copying everyone else in the universe who was copying the ads. 😉
Does the iphone come with a sexy white headphone looking earpiece you get to wear on the podcast now?
Cell phone companies == evil.

Verizon sucks period, back when AT&T was cingular, when I stood in my house, my husband would get full bars on his phone from work that was cingular, and I would get one flickering bar from my Verizon phone.Yes their customer service sucks too.
Great graphic….. Does the I-Phone have you dancing?
Stretching skin over a hollow log works much better than a hard rock.
Cellular providers are the bane of a modern world.
Very cool graphic! I think we all agree that cell phone contracts sucks big time 🙂 I switched from Verizon to Cingular that eventually becomes AT&T… Dude, my thanks for getting your mom’s computer fixed! Would’ve miss her photostream 🙂
@M.Gruber: I was just in a bad mood. I would never be able to survive without all that stuff.
@Jim Lamb aka Travelinjim: well, it’s a lot different than just having a cellphone. See, in my case, I was using $300 smartphones anyway. It’s more like having a computer on you all the time.
@lrayholly: no problem.
@Mikey aka DaSkinnyBlackMan: thanks.
@disco~stu: yep. 🙂
@the brownhorse: I was thinking of saying that. I ended up going with the makeshift drum.
@sassyshannon999: 🙂 Thanks
@Stephen Poff: heh… It’s still not my ideal phone, but I’m pretty happy so far.
@mickeysacks: yeah, I knew you’d point that out. Mostly cuz I always do on yours. 🙂
@shockingbird: totally
@ms.Tea: cell phones suck in general. We were playing with our new iPhones last night, and Steph was literally sitting a foot and a half from me, and she had 5 bars on her phone and I had 3 on mine. They’re identical hardware. It’s crazy.
@DeHoll: nah, that’s too much technology. The rock and stick are all natural.
@northshoreleo: thanks.
I am totally digging this one! very cute
@nicky’s_eye_view: thanks. Glad you like it.
thats fantastic chris! wish i could get my edges as smooth 🙂 loving the black on red background 🙂
