It’s 1:23 in the morning and I get to go to bed as soon as I get this posted.
I don’t remember the last time I got to say that. The comic is finished and has been uploaded and scheduled for printing. Now please everyone just keep your fingers crossed and I should have it back in plenty of time for the comicon. Well, three days or four days, but what more can you do?
Anyway, the book is done, and I’m pretty excited about it. My work isn’t done. I still want to get some of the shots from the cover shoot processed and used for pinups. I also want to put together a blurb book as a prestige format version.
The whole thing is coming toghether. Woohoo!
Oh yeah, this week’s podcast mini-challenge is dramatic lighting. I’ve been skimping on my podcast duties the last few weeks while I worked on the comic. Hopefully now I’ll be getting back into it.
Glad you got to bed "early". Good luck on the book.
Hmmm, dramatic lighting huh? That should be an interesting topic for sure.

glad your load is lightening or at least you’ve met your deadlines…can’t wait to check out the podacst, this is a brilliant shot.
@lrayholly: well, we’re hoping it is anyway.
@disco~stu: well, there’s still work to do. And I was technically late on the deadline. But I am happy with what we got. Hope you enjoy the podcast.
that is a very strange decision regarding not accepting my photo. photography is a creative and subjective art and i’m not trying to win any awards, rather i am documenting my year for myself. i’ll post an additional photo from 4/6 for 365 but my heart and soul were in my shoes yesterday.
@lifethrualens: that’s well said. I firmly believe that the 365 project in and of itself is about exactly what you said. However we have had an ongoing problem in the group of people posting non-self portraits, so in order to keep the group on target, we have had to institute the rule that some part of you had to be in the photo. Being in the pool isn’t really important though. What’s important is the journey, so please don’t take it personally. We simply can’t take the chance that someone who DOESN’T understand the concept posts a non-self portrait and then comes back and says "but you allowed this one of this guys shoes." Trust me, that sort of thing has happened many times.
365 has been the one thing i enjoy most on a daily basis. Therefore IT IS PERSONAL as I’m sure your photos are to you. i thought your comment was a joke at first glance because it was so ridiculous. and petty. in the future i will be sure to put my hand or body part in my photo. but maybe you should spend more of your policing time on people posting trashy porn portraits. Those portraits drain the class and professionalism of the group.
@lifethrualens: we police for all kinds of things. As for porn, as per the rules of the group, that would be ok, provided the photographer is in the pic. Like you said, it’s an extremly personal experience. The community as a whole decided on what the qualifying rules had to be some time ago. And with great rationale. I understand the words behind your post. I understand the emotion and for your own personal set that’s fine. But I am responsible for the direction of the group and if I allow you to post a picture of your shoes, no matter how personal then I would not be able to remove shots of shoes that any person posted. At some point the group would degenerate into simply a collection of whatever photos anyone wanted to post. Which is a fine thing for a group to do, and in fact I am a member of many such groups, however, ours is not one of them.
Again, I understand your concern, and appreciate you being reasonable about it, but these are not random decisions and I ask that you try to see our point of view here.
Thank you and enjoy the process.
do what you have to do chris. you can send me to 365 reform school as long as all my vacation expenses are covered along with free camera gear and a new pair of shoes.
ahem… moving on…
