So I think I ranted enough yesterday for a the whole week. The issue is still not resolved. I’m still not happy. But I’ll leave it at that for now.
In other news, I’m anxiously awaiting word on how the comic is doing. Really, everything is probably fine. But I need to know that. The not knowing is totally driving me crazy.
On top of that, I’m almost done finishing the photos for the special edition version of the comic. We made sure to ship the regular one off first to make sure we had it done in time, and since then I’ve been trying to edit photos from our shoot a couple weeks ago to be used in a special edition version. It would be the same comic story but also include live photos of the models. Just seemed like a classy little thing.
Right now I’m trying to decide whether I should get it printed the same place or if I should go with blurb again. The tradeoffs are that blurb would be a bit more expensive and have a slightly different aspect ratio, but it would be on a better class of paper and really a bit nicer.
So, noble reader and discerning art fan, if you were to go with the "prestige" edition of my comic (and you totally should) which would you prefer?
Interesting photo, fine job with the lighting.

Heheheheh. You said "classy."
(Max is so silly – heh heh heh)
If I get a vote, I vote for classy. At least for your first edition.
You’re looking all pensive-like today. Classy! (that’s for Max)

I think that as long as the aspect-ratio change doesn’t make it at all awkward to read the comic (having strange negative space can sometimes disrupt the flow of graphic novels y’know so if /when you’re properly re-formatting or lining stuff up for another size keep that in mind) then you can go with the higher-quality. But I do think it’s very important that whichever way people buy the book that it be as enjoyable to actually read it in either format, since even extra awesome photos won’t make up for badly flowing comic art/story.
Go with the classy. I am currently setting aside some money for it.
@Rockin’ Rob: thanks.
@max1975: oh yeah… totally, we’re like sophisticated artists and stuff…
@lrayholly: yeah, that’s what I ended up doing.
@the brownhorse: me too… thanks.
@mickeysacks: the aspect ratio change was a pain in the ass. But I dealt with it. It did require a little reformatting. But I think it was worth it to get the extra photos and stuff in. It actually looks pretty nice (at least in the blurb preview… I’ll have my copies next week)
@adayinthelife: wonderful. You can get it here

@nicky’s_eye_view: thank you.
