Day 668 of 365 More.

It’s been hot this week. Godawful hot. In the 90s, and extremly humid. I guess some places it’s like that all the time, but that’s exceptional for Pittsburgh this time of year.

And the worse part, I hadn’t gotten around to cleaning and filling my pool so I couldn’t just jump in to cool off.

I decided tonight was a good time to fix that.

While I was at it, I filmed a tutorial for next week’s podcast on shutter speed. So if you’ve ever wondered how to do a shot like this, where you freeze water in the air, be sure to check out next week’s show. (This week’s show will hopefully be up soon).

Given your notoriety, I am almost embarassed to do this, but . . . .

Hi, I’m an admin for a group called 365 — The Men’s Club, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

Ok, I’m definitely watching THAT podcast, because I Love the way the water looks in this! BTW, how soon before that pool is ready? It’s Been hot down here!

You better keep it maintained so I can enjoy it at the end of August. (course with my luck it’ll be unseasonably cold and rainy when I’m there)

I can’t wait for your tutorial… I’m so totally clueless for motion freeze stuff like this.

Ha, can’t wait to watch that one. I"m already seriously behind.

well it’s about time that you got your pool ready 🙂

great shot mav!!! and be thankful that you’re only in the 90s…your neighbors just a wee bit south and east (i.e. ME!) are in the low 100s and with the heat index it’s felt even HOTTER! YIKES!! Thank goodness for A/C!!

*applies sunscreen and waits for pool party invite*

BTW, I have never been able to watch a podcast. I downloaded one once and it froze up my Mac. I got an error message I have never seen and had to restart the whole shebang. It was like I had a freakin’ PC. WTF?

Good thing about NYC. There’s always a starbucks near by with ac. 😀

ah yes…shutter speed. One of the tricks to my jump shots 🙂

  9. June 11, 2008 at 1:17 am

Oh how I wish I had your pool. 🙂

I need to figure all of this shutter speed stuff out now that I have an SLR camera. Still just fooling with different settings to see the effects.

@jrab: eh… don’t be. Never hurts to ask. There… added.

@lrayholly: it’s really not that hard to do. You could probably figure it out on your own. It’s actually cooled down a bit here today. Thank goodness.

@mickeysacks: oh, it’ll be ready. Maintaining it is actually a big hobby of mine. I find it relaxing. Like gardening or something.

@shockingbird: heh. Well, it’ll be next weeks. Assuming I can find the time to edit it.

@pi c’s: well, it was too cool for the longest time and I was too busy. And then it just got hot all of a sudden and I was missing it. Still haven’t had a chance to swim in it. Maybe this weekend.

@365bunnies: how are you downloading it? From the site or itunes? It should work PERFECTLY fine on a mac.

@excalipoor: oh. We have central air. It’s like the best invention ever.

@Mikey aka DaSkinnyBlackMan: yeah, I figured. I might have even mentioned it when I was filming. I forget.

@viva la vibs: yeah, it wasn’t something I was specifically looking for when we bought a house, but it has been nice to have.

@lacychenault: oh. Well, definitely watch our podcasts. We have lots of little tips and stuff like that.

It’s all good. I know you’re getting up there in age. *snicker*

  13. June 11, 2008 at 11:05 am

    @Mikey aka DaSkinnyBlackMan: yeah… apparently.

@chrismaverick My parents used to own a pool but the upkeep became too much for my dad to handle. So much cleaning, chlorinating, and filling for the few times it was used. Plus, I think they just wanted more space to build gardens. 🙂

  15. June 11, 2008 at 2:31 pm

@viva la vibs: yeah, a lot of people feel that way. But for me, taking care of it is kind of the hobby, just like other people do with their gardens.

  16. June 11, 2008 at 11:21 pm

Oooo, you luck dog, you got a pool!

  17. June 12, 2008 at 2:37 am

@thehalfshow.com: yeah. It’s nice. I guess technically some people consider having a pool a blight on the property, but I love it.

  18. June 14, 2008 at 4:19 am

great capture – will have to try this..and must be great to have the pool up and running again! nothing beats a cool dip, for sure.

  19. June 16, 2008 at 9:23 pm

@crustydolphin: good luck with it. And yeah, I think the pool is nice. I actually still haven’t had time to use it yet.

  20. June 23, 2008 at 2:34 pm

I’ll be over in an hour… haha. I wish I had a pool! Not having to deal with little kids (and their pee) at a public pool must be awesome.

  21. June 27, 2008 at 1:06 am

@dyannafstop: hah… I still haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Wanted to today, but it started raining.
