Day 735 of 365 Again.

The problem with doing this project for three years is that you really get to the point where you’re not coming up with interesting shots. One of the reasons I started this was coming to grips with being in front of the camera myself. Also learning more about photographing men. Well, I kinda feel like I got there a while ago.

People ask me why I don’t just quite 365. Honestly, I can’t really explain it anymore. Back when I was in college, my writing professors used to always tell me that if you wanted to be a good writer, you had to write something everyday. I’ve kind of started feeling that way about photography now. This is just something I do. At this point it’s a part of me. I honestly don’t feel like I can stop. If it gets to be 11:45pm and I don’t have a daily shot, I get antsy. It’s just part of who I am.

On another note, I put some shots up from a recent shoot that I’d love people’s opinion on. Like a lot of my photoshoots, it’s kinda sexual, but I was going a different direction here. I wanted sexy and sensual but I wanted it to feel more playful and innocent at the same time. Let me know what you think.

    You know, you could do a daily shot of something else.

    Um, or NOT.

    TITTIES!

    I love this project. Keep taking self portraits. Or I’ll cry. 🙁

    And I love the new set you’ve got up. It really is sexy and sensual but there definitely is that innocent/playfulness to it as well. I think you did amazingly well with it.

    Ah! My favorite birthmark!

    @sui66iy: eh. It really wouldn’t be the same. I mean, I do photoshoots and stuff all the time, but I’m not really interested in "stuff" and doing a 365 of someone else (even steph) isn’t really practical for me. Also, part of the challenge, at least to me is the self-portrait aspect of it. A lot of people do a "365 of whatever I feel like shooting" but to me, that’s not a project. It’s just being a photographer. This is my thing, and I will keep with it.

    @like_shipwrecks: oh don’t worry, I’m ot going anywhere. And you say titties like that, I expect to see some, you know. 😛 Glad you like the new set. I’m pretty happy with it. There’ll be some more in it in a bit.

    @lrayholly: *sigh*

    Here I am all excited about a D300 and Sigma 150-500mm that are slowly making their way across the Atlantic and will soon be added to my collection of gear. But then you have to remind me about your photography and I can’t help but be jealous.

    How much longer do I have to wait before beautiful naked women are queuing up to be photographed by me?

    You shouldn’t be worried about your photography… You should be worried that your going to wake up from the dream you are living. 🙂

    @denovich: D300? You’ll never get women to take their clothes off with that! Models say that Nikons are bastard cameras! 🙂

    Actually, the key is just to keep practicing at it. In my case, a lot if it is me having a good sense of lighting and composition and knowing how to pose the models so people seem to want to work with me. In a lot of respects, I’m also just kind of lucky. But there’s a lot you can learn by practicing. Start with clothed girls. You have a wife running around your house for to begin. Next get subscriptions to Maxim, FHM, Cosmo, Playboy, Vanity Fair. Any of the magazines that have the best glamour photographers. Study the pictures. Learn what makes them good. Practice on Deb (or whoever is willing) and then move up to experienced models. You may have to pay them, but if you want to get good, that’s what has to be done.

    And I’m not living the dream yet. I’ll be living the dream when Playboy or Maxim call and I don’t have to work a regular job anymore.

    I’ve had a creative block lately, and I’m only on year two. Good luck to you in your third year! I commend you, sir.
