I’ve only known about this event for a week, but in many ways I’ve been preparing for it my entire life.
A week ago, Virgina sent me an email asking if I wanted to go to a huge pillow fight in the middle of Schenley Park. It was a strange request. Of course I want to go to a pillow fight! Who wouldn’t?
It was quite crazy. Adults, kids, jammies (told you I’ve been preparingmy whole life) and pillows. A whole bunch of people I don’t know, taking out their aggressions on one another in the time honored tradition of bonking each other over the head as hard as they can.
The kids are especially brutal. There was this one kid in a blue t-shirt. He was seven years old at BEST. And kinda short for his age. Seriously, like a couple feet shorter than me. How the hell me managed to get up high enough to hit me in the back of the head I will never know. At first, I thought it must have been someone else, but no, he did it over and over again. To me and to any other "big person" he could find. And he didn’t let up. That little bastard was ruthless.
In closing, I gotta say, this shot would not be possible without an i-Shot JR remote. I took over 100 shots of the pillow fight, while I was in it. It is quite awesome (I’m in there, I swear… shouldn’t be that hard to find really either).
Anyway, if you’re feeling grumpy or have a crappy day at work, I highly recommend finding some 7 year old you don’t know and beating the hell out of him with a pillow. It’s quite cathartic.
COOL!
Oh Man! This is too much Fun!
i found ya! I didn’t leave a note though; figured I’d leave you so somebody else could find you too!
Fun!!! And seriously…you are my absolute favorite person for continually trying to tell people how awesome the I-Shot is. Nobody is buying, but when we finally strike it rich (which we WILL), you will not be forgotten, my friend.
OMG!!!! I wish you had called me, that looks like sooooo much fun!
Okay, and one more question. Was that truck full of pillows, so that the passers-by could also join in?
@olga_sgr!: yeah, it was!
@lrayholly: yeah, it was a blast. And yeah, I thought about putting a note over myself and then decided not to because I thought people might like the fun of looking for me.
@sadandbeautiful (Sarah): yeah, no biggie. I know what it’s like. No one ever buys my book or hellcats comics either and I wish more people pimped them, so whatever I can do to help.
@sassyshannon999: oh, you know I should have. There were kids Parker’s age there too. It was really fun. And no, the truck is actually completely separate from the event and just happened to be there. a few nights a week, during the summer, there’s a free movie in the park just after dark. The pillow fight was held by different people in the same park (mostly because they know people will be there with their kids, sitting on blankets and having pillows so they might join in). The truck is there because it was transporting the screen and projector and stuff, which they were setting up off to the right of this shot while the pillow fight was going on.
Haha, sweet p-jams dude. I wish I’d have known about this! I would’ve totally gone!
Oh my god! I’m am so utterly jealous. And amused.
And curious… why exactly did this happen? Who are these marvelous people who plan events like this… and what can I bribe them with to make them move to my town? 🙂
@dyannafstop: well, they do it once a year. So I guess you can try to catch it next time.
@mickeysacks: Pittsburgh Cacophony Society ran it. And yes, there are similar clubs in other cities. You’ll have to look around once you get settled in your new home.
