A friend of mine from wrestling got married today. He hired me to do the photography.
I’m kinda torn on wedding photography. I’ve done a few of them and they present an interesting challenge. I don’t like the lack of control. In a studio setting, or even on a location shoot, I really get to control all aspects of the shot. I control the lighting. I control the pose. If I want to I’ve even been known to control the weather. You don’t get that at a wedding. There’s a lot more technique that goes into it and a lot less artistry. i mean, don’t get me wrong, there’s certainly some artistry that goes into it, but it’s a bit harder, and since it’s essentially a candid event, it’s not really "my work" per se, so much as it’s documenting.
That said, no one really wants to pay my bills just to keep me creating as a brilliant artist, so if I’m going to be a photographer this is just kind of one of those things I need to do.
Maybe I’ll just give up and get a normal job. Like working in a coal mine. Or maybe porn.
yea….MR. MAVERICK would be a cool porn star name…kinda like Mr Marcus but with out the baseball cap

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
I’m with you on weddings. It’s so hard to control. You can’t stop a moment to get a better take…..and there’s a ton of processing to do. If I could get lightroom to work better for me, maybe it’d be easier.
Hmmmm looks like some of the old school group pics!
I rather like the suit and tie….
it is a good group shot, and soooo–
uhhh is the word "conventional?"
This is a fav
@VAN JOHNSON PHOTOGRAPHY: eh… I’d need a new name.
@SaylaMarz: yeah. Really, people should just pay me to be an artist. Life would be so much easier
@lrayholly: what do you mean?
@DeHoll: I do have nice clothes. I used to wear them all the time. Depends on where I’m working, really.
