Day 858 of 365 Again.
Another day, a little better.
Got the replacement power cable for my dying hard drive today. Crossed my fingers ad plugged it in, hoping that maybe everything would be better.
It was…
Well, a little.
The drive is still dying. It still won’t stay up for very long, but I have managed to get most of the files that I absolutely 100% definitely need. That is to say, the Tarot card source files. Five out of the six gigs that I didn’t have backed up somewhere else (most of it was). Each time I get the drive to spin up, its a little worse. It crashes faster and faster, to the point where I have been grabbing the files one at a time. I got to the point where it wouldn’t spin up anymore, so I went to the bar to watch my friends play at open mic. I guess I’ll try again tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Of course, If I can’t get the last gig worth of tarot stuff, that’s actuallly only the source files to eight cards. One of which (High Priestess) I have a partial backup of. One of which (Death) I’d be totally screwed. Two of which aren’t my favorites and I was considering reshooting anyway (two of coins and two of cups). And the others (ace of coins, ten of coins, ace of cups and ten of cups) are with my girlfriend or one o my best friends. Not stuff I particularly WANT to reshoot, but I could make do.
Still, all in all, I’d rather it just work.
