Just taking a break… trying to reflect and figure out my future.
Sadly, I still feel like I can’t quite see it.
Sigh… why can’t I just be rich? I don’t need to be really rich. Just rich enough to do some of the things I want. Any of the things. It wouldn’t even be that expensive.
Really, someone give me a million dollars. I’ll never ask for anything again?
No?
Ok, how about fifty bucks?
Darkness! Black Magic!
Really? I don’t know that that would do much for you.
From one angle, suppose you were living in poverty in some third-world country. You’d probably be saying to yourself, "why can’t I just live in America? I wouldn’t need to be rich. Just a job and a roof over my head."
From another angle, suppose you had the million dollars. You’d probably be saying, "Realistically, this million dollars is not going to last very long. It’s not enough capital to just invest and live off of, so I either have to keep working and save it, or spend it, in which case I’ll just have to work later. Why can’t I just have 50 million dollars? That would be plenty!"
Dissatisfaction is just as much a problem of personality as it is of circumstance. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
sui66iy: I disagree. $1million is easily enough for me to quite comfortably invest and live off of for the rest of my life. I mean, not to live like a king, but I shouldn’t have a problem living essentially the life I live now, but not having to "work" aside from doing the things I like to do that while money yielding, don’t pay enough for me to do full time right now.
But I accept your challenge. Give me a million dollars and we’ll find out for sure.
Man, I’d live nice as hell off of a million dollars.
@chrismaverick: Dude, I’ve seen your spending habits. I’m not giving you a million dollars to "invest." You should hit up Obama though. Tell him you have a proven track record of stimulating the economy, unlike those Wall Street assholes.
sui66iy: Bah! I bet you a million dollars I’d be fine.
