It’s also bad to get it rained on when you have a cough drop in the same general area. (Yeah, I had a hand-me-down iPhone for like a month before I destroyed it. I’ll stick with the phone I’ve managed not to break.)
I fixed my wifes iPhone after a similar looking drop last year – If it’s just the glass that’s broke, not the lcd, and you can use a screwdriver, it’s a fairly easy fix. – parts about £75 from Ebay. plenty of instructional videos on Youtube. Flickmail me if you want more info.
boo hiss 🙁
#1 reason I got a cover for mine.
did you use that as an excuse to upgrade to a 3GS?

D’oh!
thanks for the concern, everyone. I have already gotten it fixed. Did it that night. Hence the down $200.
our punk koala: i actually already had the 3gs. I upgraded steph and I back on our anniversary. So I’ve only even had the phone for 3 months. *sigh*
