Also, I had initially intended to not use so much black and mostly have him made of flames and negative space, the way he’s drawn in the comic, but as I worked with it this look just kind of worked for me more and more. I figure if you’re covered in fire you’re either going to be just a dark shadow of contrast or you’re going to see some definition. This way was more fun.
