I am a black man, born in the 1970s, who grew up as such a comic book nerd that I decided to go out and get a Ph.D in it. Today, Luke Cage has his own TV series. I just got home from work, so I have not watched a single episode yet. More so than ever with any comic book adaptation, I have gone out of my way this past year or so to learn basically absolutely nothing (and if anyone spoils a goddamn thing for me I will fuck you up!!!). Literally at this very moment all I know is that there are 13 episodes of a TV show starring Luke Cage and featuring Misty Knight. With that information alone, I can officially say that today is the greatest day of my life.
That is all.
I liked his appearance in the Jessica Jones series. I know I am losing sleep this weekend if I plow through it all. 🙂
SPOILER: It stars a black dude!
Hmmm… you haven’t watched the whole thing yet, I guess.
No, it has black dude in Harlem
So far it is tied for my fav season of the Netflix shows.
It’s good.
Merry Christmas! Does this mean that now I don’t need to buy you a present?
I’ve been on it all day. It is really, really good.
Been looking forward to this. Hope it has a shelf life.
And the music, too.
Yep. Starting in the first episode even, I was like “oh shit! Is that D-Nice?” #TR808
It will be interesting to see how “a certain demographic” will react to the show.
I predict them saying, “Well, it was okay but definitely the weakest season so far. Not my favorite.”
I’m sold
I finished it yesterday morning. I really enjoyed it. The music was great, the characters were phenomenal. And the story did a good job of introducing the character and his relationship to Harlem.
I had zero knowledge of Luke Cage aside from Civil War going in. I don’t know how it stands up to the source, but yeah, enjoyed it a lot.
Noticeably speeding up obviously slow cars for the chase scenes definitely added to the 70s feel.
