Rima contacted me about posing for the Tarot deck on Wednesday and we shot her on Thursday. It’s about the fatest turnaround I’ve ever done on a shoot, but it was another case of just trying to get a shoot in when both the model and I happened to have time.
I was quite happy to work with her, since through happenstance right now, the deck was very "caucasian." It’s been hard to find people of color for it. Especially women. I was hoping her complexion still comes across well in the B&W.
The big challenge here was representing "love" while only using one person so that it conceptually fit with the other twos in the deck.
Interpretation, comments and criticism welcome as always, and in fact encouraged.

This may be the naughtiest card so far in the tarot set, but in a lot of ways I think its the most powerful I’ve done so far. Amaya has a lot of experience doing fetish modeling and when I met her I knew she was perfect for what I wanted to do with this card. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Steph was concerned that maybe the concept and visuals were a little over the top, but I like it, not just because of the raw sexuality of it, but I felt like it told a very real story with a single image.

Day 267 of 365 days. You know what I haven’t done for 365 in a long time? I haven’t featured Steph in a pic. I kind of pulled back from using her when she started trying the project herself. But she got lazy and pulled out eventually and I never started using her much again.…
Did a photoshoot with Shiima and Mallory today. These are the first three shots I finished from it. More to come, including two new tarot cards. Would love to hear people’s thoughts.
Shiima is a wrestling friend of mine. My former tag team partner, in fact, until he decided he wanted to be a good guy and I had to turn on him. Shame about that. Still he’s fun to hang out with, and the pics turned out good.

When I was 2 years old, my grandfather bought new cabinets for my grandmother and he rebuilt the old cabinets into a bar that was a favorite family hang out spot in his house for years. When he died a few years ago and my grandmother decided to sell the house she was going to throw the bar out. Over my dead body. I drove to Cleveland, rented a truck and drove the bar back. Now, it sits in my dining room now as one of my most prized possessions.
This mirror was my addition to bar. It probably doesn’t seem like a big thing, but for some reason part of me just can’t seem to change the bar itself, but I wanted to add something to it. You can’t see it in this picture, but his name is on the mirror in decals. It adds a nice since of "barness" to it and it makes me happy to look at it it. I’m sure he would have approved.
Assignment 2. Mirror/Reflection. A great, though challenging, compositional element is the mirror. Use reflections to complement your subject. Anyone doing a self-portrait in a mirror will be tagged “phoned in.” All other reflections are fair game.
