Decided to take a break from being a cartoonist last night to return to being a photographer. Cosmic Hellcats has taken up so much of my time lately that I am WAY behind on editting photos from shoots.
I got some encouragement from CERTAIN people – one of whom might actually be in these pictures, and might even be a Hellcat herself, but I don’t want to name names – that it might be nice to see some more from the series, and so I thought I’d post these.
Hmmm…. Maybe Starr would make a nice Hellcat too, in case one of the current ones ever got killed off…

Back before I became a comic book author, you know, way back 2 months ago, I used to be a pretty good glamour photographer. At least that’s what they tell me.
While I was working on Hellcats, I’d been kinda neglecting editing shots. Well, that ends tonight. I put together some of these from my shoot with Sarah and Starr a couple weeks ago.
The shoot was Sarah’s idea. Inspired by cheesecake dorm room posters, she wanted to do some artsy sensual lesbianesque playful B&Ws. She also wanted to get Starr into modeling. This is some of what we came up with.

I’ve come to the conclusion at this point that with the right lighting, makeup and poses, I could shoot Bea Arthur and make her ready for the cover of Maxim. Any woman can be sexy if she works it right. That said, Chaste doesn’t really need any help there. She’s been modeling a while and has plenty of "here’s me being sexy" shots. Sometimes, I want to just do something different. Something beyond "here’s a sexy girl in her underwear." Something fun.

Mandie pinup kiss

Last week I did a photoshoot with Mandie. She’s got a wonderful look. She just exudes the sweet and charming girl next door vibe. Definitely totally hot, but also completely sweet and unthreatening. So I definitely didn’t want to ruin that when shooting implied nudes of her.
So that was the challenge, feature her sexiness and sensuality but without making her look slutty or blatant. I’m totally pleased with what we came up with.
In this one in particular, I really wanted to push something different. I decided to create kind of a pinup girl look for her. I think it worked out well.
